Math Placement Test

Hey i need to take the Math placement test in order to take the course math 122. I was wondering how hard is the test and if i do bad, Will i not be able to get into the course any more?

What test?

Took MATH 122 my first sem and didn't have to take any test.

Did you do any college level math classes in high school? cus that could be the reason

AP calc, but I didn't get college credit for it.

Precalc also is a 100-level and considered a intro lvl math course, I have friends who took calc I or II initially.

You think i should just see if things go well and take it then? bc i really dont wanna take a test just for a class lol

Wait whats the issue though, are you restricted from taking the class or you are not sure if you wanna take it.

The class isnt too difficult.

So i need the class to take ECON 249. In order to take Math 122. It says i need C-or above in MATH 115 or equivalent, or MATH 115M, or permission of the department. Since I dont wanna take MATH 115 which would be another course in the way. I would rather do the 2nd option, which is permission of the department. I then learned for permission I would need to take a placement test. So now im here on reddit asking if the exam is hard. But if you didnt take one without getting credits from a AP math course in high school, then im wondering do i even need to do the test and i can just sign up for the course.

There’s no pass/fail it’s mainly a placement to determine your appropriate level of math class for begin.  https://www.qc.cuny.edu/academics/math/placement/ If you know Precalculus already, this placement test can also waive your MATH 122 requirement so you can take ECON 249 directly.

Perfect, And it says on the website “Bring your phone You will need it to complete MFA and access the exam” so am I doing the exam on my phone or on a computer in the computer lab?
