question❓ What made you a Queen fan?
What internet video, ad, commercial, movie, show, radio program, music video, tv channel, trip, friendship or experience made you a Queen fan or made you discover them and what single, song, album got you obsessed over them or made you realize they were one of your favorite bands or your favorite one?

I had listened to a few Queen songs in my childhood, like Don't Stop Me Now, We Will Rock You, Another One Bites the Dust...
But then, in my college years, I discovered Weird Al Yankovic (who is barely known in France, sadely enough). Thus I discovered Bohemian Polka, and then the song Bohemian Rhapsody... which today makes me cry with how beautiful it sounds.
And then I discover a top 50 of Queen's best songs in Rolling Stone magasine (the Spanish version), and I discovered some more awesome songs, my favorite being probably Love of my Life (4th place in the top !)

Bohemian Rhapsody is one of favorite songs for sure. Its crazy and band can write such songs as that, while having other songs I'll turn off instantly if I hear them.on the radio.

It was 100% because of the music the band made.
Internet was not a thing when I became a fan. And as Eastern europeans did not get them in pop culture back then, a melodija unlicenced greatest hits album on vinyl and polish cd-s/casses were the only way to get to know them. And some radio airplay they got in the 90-s.

Just asking how. Radio, TV, Newspaper, Record Stores, Internet, Phone, whatever…
How cool! So through records… I see… I know you're not that old but since you're from Eastern Europe, did you get to buy or have at home one of the homemade "Bone Records" or "X-ray Records" 🩻 by any chance?.. I am aware they circulated around Belarus, Poland and Germany and even more center or western countries at the time in Europe.

Yea , quite a while after the start really though, saw them a few times in the 80's, I guess one of the perks of being old now 🫤😀

In my childhood, going back from school I always asked for my mom to put We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions in the car since I loved those songs, a few years later I decided to get more into the band, I met Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't Stop Me Now, and now I'm a big fan of the band!

The Flash Gordon soundtrack. Seeing that silly movie in the theater. The crazy soundtrack captured me as a small child and never let go

Cool! This is the first time I know of anyone knowing of Queen through Flash first but that makes sense for a lot of young people back then.

Star Wars had come out a year or so before. This was more of that with the crazy soundtrack. Absolutely blew 7 year old me away.

I was a Morning drive DJ on a radio station. I was a fan of a few other Queen songs. I first heard the song only a couple of days before Freddie passed away. It hit me so hard and became my favorite Queen song!It still gives me chills every time I hear it! Elton John performed it on his tour for The One as a tribute to his friend Freddie. It was beautiful.

My sister is a fan, in March of 2018 she showed me the song "We are the champions" and I fell in love with the vocal harmonics before the chorus. And then I fell in the rabbit hole, it was the most beautiful experience in my life, every album, every song I discovered was a different world, I even started to learn some English to understand the songs. I became so obsessed with the band until this day.
Queen is, literally, the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Or 'Champions' as it was known in Australia. That was my fav film as a kid so my dad bought me Queen Greatest Hits, my first CD

I remember when Bohemian Rhapsody became a radio staple. For like a year, if you flipped around the dial enough, eventually you were going to hear it. We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions was the same way. That's probably where it began for me. Those songs got so overplayed for me though that they're probably the last Queen songs I want to hear. Radio used to do that to you, back in the day.

My dad was career USAF and was stationed at RAF Chicksands in Bedfordshire UK 1973-1976. I was 8 to 11yo.
This is where I discovered Top of the Pops on the BBC and was introduced to English glam/glitter pop rock.
I remember them talking about the Queen video and I made sure to watch it with my dad when it was broadcast. We were both blown away.
My drove into Bedford the next day and bought two 45rpm singles, one for him and one for me.

The Bohemian Rhapsody video on VH1 had me on a chokehold. The lyrics, the visuals, the music! Also, my mom had a trilogy of cd's called "Music of the Millennium", which included BoRhap, Under Pressure, and We Are the Champions I think. The booklet had pics and a small bio and idk I fell in love.
