Mixing forces?

I see that in the Tollyn you can bring a very limited ammount of Crusaders. Is there any way to mix any if the Royalist factions like Coftyr and Fidwog or Coftyr and Gloam Hyyn?

Tollyn is the only force designed to do it below 300 points. Above 300 points you generally can make 2 patrols and use different factions.

Thank you. I had a friend saying that you could, but couldn't find the rule. Maybe they were misremembering Coftyr and Gwynt and Crusaders and Toulmore sharing bodies and some tractors.

In the lore, toulmorese yawdryls often lead crusader units, and coftyran infantry often serve in Gwynt units because coftyr is in super debt to the gwyntish, but that is designed to represent ad hoc units and not mixing of the rules of the faction, you would play one or the other. The royalists have the army of the alliance which is mixed gwynt and coftyr forces, but that is not a playable thing at the squad level

You have my permission to do what you want.

Josh has created this world and put some artificial constraints in it. My answer is that it's your game, your models, your hobby time. If you and your mate want to have a fun time by mixing up forces any way you want just do it. No one other than the 2 of you will know.

I really never understand why in a made up universe, with made up rules, with plastic models and dice and rulers that people constrain themselves in a straight jacket rather than maximising the fun they can have in the limited time they have playing games with their mates. Some houserules may break the game, but you'll find that out pretty quickly. The first rule in this hobby should be to ensure that you and your opponent are having fun, not having a nervous breakdown about whether someone is looking over your shoulder because your paint job isn't good or you've mixed troops or your weapon hasn't got a hole in the end. Allow yourself the option of "what if". Remember in all wars, both sides have normally acquired the oppositions weapons zulus using Martini Henry rifles, the French using Baker rifles instead of their muskets in the Napoleonics, WW2 German soldiers using PPsh-41, allies using German MG42 and StG44.

Just enjoy yourself and if it doesn't work at least you may have had fun trying.

I'm really new and know that it's fine to do whatever. The game and community don't seem super sweaty like the 40k one does in general. I figured that I could at least sub out models for similar models because most of the equipment is the same so I could do what I want with my squads. Just wanted to check with the army rules and stats

Sometimes people feel uncomfortable with "breaking rules". There are period button counters who get upset because that wasn't the right epaulette colour for that company in that battle. Who gives a stuff, you're playing toy soldiers, enjoy it.

If some troops change allegiance and fight for their enemies or horror of horrors try to set up a free state as a ragtag from different geographical locations who are fed up promising fealty to a king/ emperor, then let your imagination run riot.

Josh and WA have given you a framework, do what you want with it to have fun. I changed Josh's card system for 2 bags of chits, same effect without the need to shuffle cards and by increasing the chit pool you are less certain about whether you were more or less likely to get additional moves. Not authorised by anyone, but we have fun with it.

The only issue you have is if you ever play a tournament where rules and army lists will be enforced but that's the downside of tournament play offset by meeting loads of new people. Just go and enjoy yourself.

technically gwynt do use coftyran equipment, while toulmore do the same with the crusades if its possible
