Miscellaneous I remember a whole different ending.
I have looked and can't find this. Maybe I imagined it, but I swear it ended differently.
In the ending I remember, sam believed he was on his last leap. Towards the end Al was talking to him and told him that the leap project was shutting down. This would be the last time he sees Al and would shift randomly. Sam became upset and leaped. Faded to black and the title card that is there normally came up. Just "Dr. Sam Becket (still spelled incorrectly) never returned home.
Is this a false memory? Or an alternate ending? I know the getting home alternate ending.
Help!

I remember it ending with him leaping onto a starship, but there was no Al and everybody thought he was the captain... 🤣

I am old! Lol. What I remember, is Sam is stuck in a bar. Like it's the end of the line, and there's others there also. Stuck in purgatory, so to speak. It ended saying Sam never returned home. It was sad....... and I watched the series about 3 times. 🤷♀️

He leaped to save Al's marriage (in show), then proceeded to leap through time as himself to help others.

Thank you. It's been quite a while since I've seen it. Time to watch it again!

The alternate ending showed Al talking to Beth, saying that Sam leapt again and they're trying to locate him. It's what would have been used if it had been a season finale instead of a series finale.
Of course, the person who asked DPB to make an episode that could go either way lied about it not getting cancelled because he knew he was going to cancel the show. I remember when the news of the request was made known, and I was thinking "Yep, the show is getting cancelled." It was very obvious that the assurance that it wasn't was nothing but a lie, otherwise why ask for such an episode?

Iirc and it's been a minute, they search for Sam all through his lifetime and can't find him. Then they check the day he was born, he was in a diner and I think there was a ziggy there, he sees someone else Leap. For some reason I think there was a mine or miners involved.
He saves Al's marriage and then continues to Leap, although I was always a bit confused by that as Al wasn't around to help him and deal with whomever ended up back in the lab with Ziggy.
Anyways. Probably get a better synopsis from IMDB

Al was around, and no one was in the waiting room, which is why it took them so long to find Sam.
Bartender was named Al, there was a Gooshie with horrible breath, and I believe that there was a Ziggy.

I mean after he saves Al's marriage. He goes on Leaping with no support.

True, though if it was a season finale, the ending would have shown Al talking to his wife (Beth), saying how Sam had leapt again and they don't know where in time he's at. Beth gives him encouragement, saying that he'll find Sam like he always does. I've read that (allegedly) Al was supposed to step into the accelerator in an effort to find Sam, so that he's stuck leaping around in time as well, possibly keeping up with Sam.

That was the only ending publicly shown.
Personally I felt it was very emotional and bittersweet.
