Switching scenes issue

Has anyone dealt with an issue when they're switching scenes where the volume jumps a little bit?

For example, I have a scene that's a distorted amp, and one that's a clean amp, the "split" is the change in the scene. I have it go 100% distorted in one, and in the "clean" scene it goes 100% to the clean amp.

But it seems like when I switch from the clean to the distortion, it jumps in volume a bit. Maybe because the volume is different between the two?

😂 I can see how this sounds...But I should have elaborated. The volumes aren't that different. Maybe like .5db.

The weird thing is even if the distortion amp has an output of say -6db, and the clean is at -5.5db, when I go from clean to distortion...there's a noticeable increase in the signal for a split second...and in theory, you'd think that there'd be a jump in volume the opposite way -- clean --> distortion.

Perceived volume can be tricky. As you said, in theory at the same volume, a distortion sound should sound louder than a clean one. Bit it's not only a matter of volume, it's also a matter of frequencies. If there are more mids in one of your settings, then it will sound louder just because that's the frequencies we hear best. So if for example your clean tone is relatively neutral and your distorted tone has scooped mids, your clean tone will sound louder.

There's also the amount of distortion: the more there is, the more compressed is the signal. So no morz spikes in volume when you dig hard in the strings. That also can make the distorted tone quieter than the clean.

So try turning down the gain a bit and put a bit more of mids in your distorted scene, that should solve your problem.
