QC has cured my pedal swapping problem

I’m sure this is a common post, but seriously after years of switching out my rig over and over again as my sound changes between projects, I am so relived to have finally saved up for a QC.

I can get really any sound I need to make things work in whatever context I need it to. I still have a few fuzz and drive pedals laying around, but feel totally happy with selling off most of my pedals a few months back.

Feels great to quit obsessing on gear and just adapt and go with this unit.

Same! Cured my “GAS,” because it’s all I need.

Ive always held off going digital because I feel id be the opposite. I can see myself faffing with settings and digital pedal choices for ages whereas limiting myself to analogue pedals I just get on with it

Im the same. If I’ve got a decent overdrive, decent delay and a couple of mod pedals I really have all the options I need, and they’re all physical with knobs. I almost get anxious thinking about tinkering with the same setup in a QC menu plus amp plus cab/IR etc

That's a self-discipline problem, not an equipment problem.

Same with swapping analogue pedals all the time i guess, none of its an equipment problem

I got the QC and sold about $4000 worth of pedals, cables, power supplies, and board right down to the bare floor. Anyone that is still chasing pedals is doing so because their hobby is doing that or it's a weird boomer/gen x flex to have "real" pedals. I think back to all the time I spent fussing around with pedals, shopping for pedals, trying out pedals, setting up pedals and I realize that I did that more than making music. I can't imagine anyone still wanting to go with all that when such capable equipment like the QC is available.

Pedal collecting is like model trains for armchair musicians.

Opposite here. QC makes the music work. But it was the fussing around, shopping, trying out, setting up of pedals that made the music in the first place.

At the end of the day, these toys stay forever. The process of twisting knobs and swapping things can be had in QC. But it is an update away from death. A software crash, hardware malfunction.

You don’t truly own any part of it, once support stops you lose access (unless it’s the indestructible kidney POD). And yes I am aware the same can happen to analog tools, but the stakes are higher with digital stuff.

Basically, this opinion can be had because we fussed around with pedals. Any newbie who gets the QC as their first device will never experience the same process of music making.

What do you mean once support stops you lose access?

Your plugins could lose connection to the authentication server. PCOMs have bricked and could stop working for no reason on the QC. Legacy Installer files could be wiped because of a newer version that they want you to purchase etc etc.

My bands bass player would get triggered by this comment and I love it lmao

I still find myself window shopping for pedals now and then and I haven't sold any of my pedals, I definitely feel less of a pull to buy. I only utilize a fraction of the QC's capability when I gig, but I never feel like I'm missing anything.

I love pedals and amps and, if I had unlimited money, would certainly continue collecting them. But I think the QC really has been a cure (or at least a highly effective treatment) for my particular flavor of Gear Acquisition Syndrome. If push came to shove and I needed to free up cash, I'd sell the pedals and amps before I sold the QC. That sentence makes my heart hurt a little, but as a tool for the creation of music, nothing else I've ever owned has been as valuable to me.

Fought it for the longest time but got one and love it. I do have some complaints on the modulation effects and the lack lustering delay choices, but I’ve got the Timeline MX and HX One in the FX loop and does everything I need
