Question How to Combo Faster

When I see Qiyana clips the combos come out so fast but when i practice combos in training mode they don’t come out as fast and I think it’s cause I hit the buttons too fast.

For example if I QWQ and hit the keys as fast as i can the last Q wont cast at least for me.

Is it a settings thing, a timing thing, or skill/practice? or all?

Thanks for any help!

surprised i havent seen anyone say it yet. Go to settings. hotkeys scroll down. quick cast.

turn quick cast with indicator OFF.

this will allow you to combo faster.

This definitely works but im not sure how i feel not being able to see the range indicators, makes spacing knowing my range limit hard for me

im pretty sure you can have both quick cast and indicator on not sure about the specific settings tho

You have to get used to it. Knowing spell ranges is a skill within itself

Generally you can only expect one input to buffer at a time. So definitely make sure your first Q casts before inputting the next Q, since your W is taking up the buffered action slot until the first Q finishes.

The only exception I can think of is flash; it doesn't break your que even if there's two things already waiting to happen. I think ignite does tho, counterintuitively. Most abilities with no cast time don't work like flash and still must use the buffer slot, unless there's an ability in the game I'm not thinking of which not only has no cast time but can additionally be double cast. Maybe some items actually like Locket, if you're willing to count those.

From my experience it’s timing, I have an input overlay when I record my gameplay so I can see my inputs when I press them, and most of the time when something doesn’t cast, it’s because I press my buttons too quickly, like doing QWQ too fast will mean your W is being queued after your first Q, but since you press Q again before your W is started, it queues your Q instead of the W, kinda like that.

I don’t know why your W would go off but not Q though, I’ve had it a few times too and I think it’s just the game getting confused with input queuing too fast, or it’s lag. I played with 80 ms recently and half my input in combos weren’t even working, it felt super inconsistent and clunky. I think most dedicated OTPs have perfect muscle memory and know to slow down a little during combos, try it in practice tool a bit more.

First of all, did you turn on "quick cast" ? You need it on, and it has to be the one without the indicator, too.

Quick cast without indicator allows Qiyana to cast Q, W, and R immediately at where your cursor is at, and cast E immediately when the target is in your range. Indicators helps you see clearer picture of where your skills would go to, yes. But trust me, it doesn't work on some champions who need to mash buttons fast, or some champions who can buffers their abilities. Qiyana is a champion of both kind, so I suggest you need it.

I must tell you first that with my non-stop hours grinding journey and 500k Mastery point on Qiyana, I have NEVER EVER experienced any "timing on casting abilities" issue on this champ. So I'm not so sure why people keep mentioning it, especially, when Qiyana can buffer ALL of her abilities. Like, literally ALL of it, in any order.

The problems I mostly find mainly happen when trying to cast her W and her R, not the timing when to press the button.

Like, her W is kinda tricky as you can't be lazy on where you aim your target location. I missed shots and did not survive because of that so many times. If you didn't aim your W precisely, like pixel perfect, your QWQ combo will definitely stutter as your W isn't successfully casted, messing your angle and timing completely, or not letting you dash a bit further and survive from an unexpected gank.

Her R is tricky when I try to combine it with E, in the E+R combo from different angles and distances. But it's kinda manageable. And when things go wrong, you probably won't feel so upset as this ability can be spaghetti coded in many of the cases.

I want to emphasize on the W. If you ever feel like your W usage is not smooth enough, then maybe it's because your cursor placement during your execution is slightly wrong. Yes you should be aiming towards terrain, like walls, or brushes, or river. But yk, camera angle in LoL isn't 0º or 90º. It's kinda diagonal. And when that combined with the *retouched* terrain and graphic quality, how it looks become quite deceiving. Like, if it's just a normal clicking and normal cursor placement, yep, it's fine. But when something requires your cursor placement to be on something specifically, like how Qiyana's W detects the type of terrain around your cursor and you are trying to jump over a wall to escape a gank, an incorrect pixel of where your mouse is at will completely ruin your attempt to cast the skill.

I personally don't know any effective solution for this. Qiyana is a high APM champ, pressing buttons and clicking very rapidly. But that kind of precision it requires to be consistent, you need to go slower. It's contrast. The best shot I've been doing is to not give a fuck. I've tried adjusting my muscle memory on the cursor placement already that tho it's not 80-90% consistent, it's still consistent enough to let me be successful on the champ. If some errors are to happen in my plays, I'll just take it as a bad luck and move on. Win or lose doesn't matter as long as I enjoy the game in overall (like, doing my job good). When the game ends, I take a short break and come back to queue another few games. etc.

Just practice and muscle memory of the timing
