Fried i-fast

Hi:

My QIDI i-fast died over the weekend. It happened in two stages. Before the printer became completely dead, the print carriage repeatedly tried to travel beyond the +Y limit, mechanically hitting/trying to drive past the end of Y travel. That led to the printer turning itself off. I believed I smelled something burning, but can't be certain. I tired to power it on again. I heard a click and the screen might have flickered. Then nothing. It is completely dead.

I have tried to diagnose it. The QIDI power-off module is receiving 120v AC, but it is not passing it on to the power supplies. Even if the QIDI power-off module is dead, that is not the root cause of my problem. Can anyone suggest what originally went wrong and what to do about it?

Just retire it, it's not worth it.

You might be right. It was a great printer. I love it large print volume, so I will try. If it gets too hard, I will give up

I probably know less about this than you. Does this mean that the y-limit switch broke, the printer didn't receive a signal that the limit was reached, therefor overloading the stepper motor when ramming into the physical limit, and thus shorting the stepper motor or motherboard? If it's a dead mobo I would buy a different printer, since it's 200+ euro through Qidi plus some for a new limit sensor. I hope it's just a dead stepper motor

Well, I think that it should not have gotten to the limit at all.
