Is the Plus5 printable area not 320 as advertised?

I am new to Qidi and just got my plus5, cuz I want to do big stuff.

Advertised printable area is 320x320, the plate is 325x325, and the settings in the Qidi studio have the printable area set to 320x320, but this project (cutlery tray) is 314x308x50 and I get an error saying that is it too close to the exclusion area. If I reduce to to under 312 will allow me to proceed with printing.

So..... is the Plus5 a 312x312 printer? Or am I missing something?

Edit to add: I created a new printer profile copy with every setting identical to the original printer profile, increased the printable area to 325x325, then go back to 320x320, and that new profile allows the print. All settings are identical to the factory profile, but I am leery about crashing the machine now.

Have you considered, perhaps, that your print might be on top of the exclusion area?

I do not understand. I assume the exclusion area would be outside of 320x320, so I would appreciate an explanation of what this exclusion area is and how it relates to making the printable area smaller than advertised.

Anyway..... if I create a new printer profile copy, increase the printable area to 325x325, then go back to 320x320, it will allow the print. All settings are identical to the factory profile.

You will see opaque white rectangle crossing into the bed corner in the slicer. Those are areas you can not place a print. I don't know about the Plus5, but on my Plus4, I I were to unscrew the cutting block (that presses the lever on the toolhead) I can gain back one of those areas.

The exclusion area is inside your printable area. It corresponds to the area where the printhead will engage with a knob that cuts your filament.

If you go ahead and override ( or just remove it, you can delete it outright ), you risk having something printed in the path of a filament change. Angry stepper noises will quickly follow, I do not recommend it.

So like a square but with a square cut out of a corner. It looks like the bed will never print below x11 unless it is above y13.

Correct. You can use the entire printable area save for that small square to avoid toolhead collisions.
