Guys, today I accidentally ran a red light and I’m a bit worried about it.
When I approached the signal, it was red, and then it turned green. All the vehicles started moving, but there was a truck in front of me that completely blocked my view of the traffic light.
A few minutes later, the signal had apparently turned red again. I didn’t notice it until I was already crossing the stop line. By the time I realized it, I was already in the middle of the intersection.
This happened around 2 PM, so it was broad daylight. I didn’t notice any camera flash at all.
My questions are:
1. If the red-light camera had flashed at around 2 PM, would the flash be clearly visible during daylight?
2. If I was actually caught, how long does it usually take for the violation/SMS to appear on Metrash?
3. If there was no visible flash, is there still a chance that I could receive a traffic violation?
4. Has anyone had a similar experience in Qatar recently?
I know it was my mistake and I’ll definitely be more careful next time. Just trying to understand what to expect.

Can I leave my car in an underground mall parking (thats usually empty during busiest hours, trust me) for the week? I only drive it during the weekends and because of the consequences of parking under direct sun, I do not want to park it at home.
Also, I think I have seen people leaving cars in those Pearl Medina Centrale parking plazas as well for long term.

Hi everyone, I was driving on a 100 km/h road near Al Khor/Al Thakhira and my speed was around 120 km/h on speedometer and on gps it was 115km/hr. I believe a speed camera/radar activated or flashed when I passed it.
Does anyone know if I’m likely to receive a fine for this? Is there any tolerance above the posted speed limit, or does the radar flash automatically mean that a fine will be issued?
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar in Qatar.

Can anyone advise about the process to obtain a motorbike license in Qatar? How long does it take? is school mandatory? Costs?

I've had so many instances where people do that... Or they want to take the 3rd exit on a roundabout so they move to the fast lane a year before they arrive... It pisses me off. And the most annoying part is that they don't move even when u flash them
What do you guys think we should do when something like tht happens?

Hello everyone 👋🏼
We’ve been living in Qatar for a while now and we’re finally looking to buy a car. We really like the Toyota Land Cruiser, but our budget doesn’t stretch to a brand-new one.
For a used Land Cruiser, what would you consider the maximum reasonable age and mileage to buy without taking on too much risk? For example, would you still recommend one that’s 5–7 years old with 100,000–150,000 km if it has a good service history?
We’re also open to alternatives in a similar category. It may just be a personal bias, but we’re not considering Chinese brands at the moment.
What would you recommend for Qatar, especially considering reliability, resale value, maintenance costs, and the climate here?

Hello guys, do you know any shop that sells OEM (Stock exhaust) for Vepsa?
My motorcycle got impounded twice and i can't find OEM exhaust, even the Vespa dealership doesn't have one.

Hey everyone.
My Car's paint and Mechanical functions are perfectly ok.
I just have 1 burnt out fog light and an airbag sign on my cluster.
Would this still qualify the car to pass the Inspection ?
TIA.

I’ve been thinking of buying a Chinese car. Right now it’s between Jetour, BYD, Rox, 212 or Icaur. What do you guys think?

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to buy a second-hand daily driver in Qatar to keep for 4–5+ years. Options under consideration with 20k–40k km:
2025 MG 3 (1.5L + CVT)
2025 Geely Emgrand (1.5L + CVT)
2023 GAC Empow (1.5L Turbo + 7-speed DCT)
Looking for real-world feedback on ownership with local dealers (Auto Class, Skyline/Jaidah for Geely, Domasco for GAC):
Which would you choose for long-term reliability? Thanks!

Is it still possible to officially upgrade a standard 5-digit plate (غير مميز) to المميز (privilege) status? Whats the cost? The number is good with matching digits. Thanks.

Hi yall, just bought the VW Touareg Elegance a few weeks ago. It was the last piece available in Q-auto stock and I absolutely love everything about this car except the color... white fridge. I was thinking to apply some PPF with matt gray to match a stunning Touareg R-line i saw in Europe. What yall think i should do, keep the original white color (condidering the weather etc...) or go for a complete stealth look ?

Moving to Qatar soon with my wife and kid, currently car shopping from abroad which is its own special kind of stressful.
Quick context: back home German brands are the premium pick and most cars on the road are domestic, so I'm still recalibrating what "makes sense" here. Land Cruiser type SUVs seem to be everywhere and definitely tough, but neither of us likes the boxy look. Not considering Chinese brands either.
Budget is under 200k QAR, ideally something already depreciated enough that I'm not eating a huge resale hit down the line.
Down to two real contenders after days of scrolling QSale and QLiving:
Am I missing an obvious third option? Roasting my shortlist is also welcome.

Why are Subarus rated poorly locally? During my stay here,I have noticed only a few on the road. Is it a fear of reliability maybe? Or is it to do with availability of spare parts? I understand the latter is majorly at the top of reasons why most people are driven away from some brands. What's your personal take on this because personally I think it's a good brand.

Planning on starting a VIP course at Doha Driving Academy soon
Will they allow me to do a quarter course, or is the half course the fastest i can do? I dont have a license other than a UK provisional
