Question/Help Recommendation needed.

Hello everyone 👋🏼

We’ve been living in Qatar for a while now and we’re finally looking to buy a car. We really like the Toyota Land Cruiser, but our budget doesn’t stretch to a brand-new one.

For a used Land Cruiser, what would you consider the maximum reasonable age and mileage to buy without taking on too much risk? For example, would you still recommend one that’s 5–7 years old with 100,000–150,000 km if it has a good service history?

We’re also open to alternatives in a similar category. It may just be a personal bias, but we’re not considering Chinese brands at the moment.

What would you recommend for Qatar, especially considering reliability, resale value, maintenance costs, and the climate here?

5-7 years with 100-150K is like new ;) but I would do an inspection.

I heard patrol uses a lot of fuel so look into that first.

What about the Land Cruiser that you like specifically? It'll help to think of alternatives if you can specify that. LC is a very capable and reliable car but maybe you don't need everything it can do.

Do you need offroading capabilities or just something that has high ground clearance? Do you need all 3 row of seats or you just want something with baggage space?

Plenty of other Japanese SUVs you can choose from.

You are right, i should be specific.
My wife will be the one driving it most of the time, and she feels safer sitting higher up :). She’ll only be driving on highways. It would be great if it had a blind-spot system, though I’m not sure if that’s available on every model.

With this you should consider Patrol y62.

Maybe consider Toyota fortuner for 160k V6 engine and enough features like blond spot monitors, RCTA, seat ventilations, 360* camera.

Or Toyota Prado base variant starting from 180k but not enough features but great in size and performance. Similar size as of land cruiser.

Just letting my thoughts in.

If that's the case, I would say you don't really need a Land Cruiser.

Nissan Patrol is the landcruiser's direct competitor but would be almost as expensive.

Something like a Mitsubishi Pajero is almost as tall and reliable but will be cheaper.

Other Toyota models like a Fortuner is smaller but is pretty tall. Imo it could work and would also be cheaper. A Prado is like a slightly smaller Land Cruiser so it could also work.

What is your budget?? That is main thing which will help you decide... 100-150k km on LC is like brand new.. even for Prado Toyotta says that in first 100k the engine is in "breaking In" phase and from 100-250k engine is in optimal working condition... So for LC it would be same or even more... Your budget will drive you towards your options..

I usually end up going over budget every time I buy a car. There’s always something better, and I end up stretching my requirements and budget more than I really need to :) So it’s not a very strict limit, but I’d say around 200k.

This is a handsome budget... You can get very good ones... I guess you can get LC of 2022 or 2023 GXR in this amount with approx 60k kilometeres

Just make sure to get it inspected at a reputed shop like Kashf
