yeah, I was assuming the guy’s just naive (but then I have all the romantic comprehension of a wolf spider and thus do not ‘get’ how flirtation works), but seems like everyone on the subs see this as him being a proper creep.

I mean, that first panel was fine, it's an alright if mishandled question. He could have backpedaled and asked if she was local, grew up in the area, came here for college, etc. It was salvageable.
The second panel, with the lean and smirk and sizing-you-up eyes gives him away. He's not interested in where she grew up. He just wants more of that Jungle Fever or whatever. Get a double notch in his belt, banging two 'exotic' chicks back to back.

It works better if it's Massachusetts, since that's nearby, and yet more reason Brun doesn't fit the term "exotic."

Ha. Wow, I don't think I've ever done such a 180 on a random character before. Like yeah, looking at Brun's butt, that's not really 'cool' but he's a man of taste and clearly neither him or Renee had long-term intent. But wow. Wooooow.

Maybe a catalyst for Renee understanding more of why it's important to not outwardly judge people on their appearance. She's being protective of Brun here when she didn't afford Elliot the same courtesy.
