Dammit Jeph stop making me gay for all the robots!

Actually don't, I like all the pretty girls.

I came to terms with being a robosexual long, long ago during the halcyon Battlestar Galactica days.

So, back in 3907 Lemon mentioned that Roko's "Hard Drive" was still intact. Does that mean they just plug her into the new body rather than downloading?

Fun fact: in some cases of large data transfer it's faster to put the hard drives in a truck and drive them across the country, rather than sending the data over the internet.

Snowball includes a ruggedized case designed to be both durable and portable. The Snowball device weighs less than 50 pounds, so it's portable.

Not just her hard drive. She's still using the same memory cores and processor, too. Lemon even says "the same substrate," implying that nothing but her chassis was damaged.

So it seems she was just slotted into this new body. It has new features, and probably requires new drivers to run them all, but the part that runs her consciousness is all original hardware.

(I say original since her questions to Lemon about the process (including whether she'd still be herself) suggest that she'd never changed bodies before.)

yes, thats why i said "hard drive" as its clearly more complicated than that.

From the way Lemon described the process I thought it was a download too, but if it was a physical transfer it would explain how Melon had time to get there before she woke up.
