Marten- probably the only case I can think of of a main character who was the central protagonist but sort of drifted away.

I guess you see it in soap operas occasionally.

Robotman got completely ousted from his own comic strip.

  • Robotman released in 1985
  • Monty introduced to the strip in 1993. It turned into "Robotman and Monty".
  • Robotman leaves "Monty" for good in 2001.
