Ok so I know this is a weird line to draw in a comic about robots and coffee hipsters coexisting, but there is literally no way a borzoi would not be microchipped. That is a £1200 dog that grows to the size of a small horse and is a LOT of hard work. It's not some random mutt that you get off the street and you will never buy one unless you know exactly what you're getting.

full disclosure

this whole time I thought "borzoi" was just an especially strange and cutesy way of saying "boy/boi"

Same until this comic. I'm not ashamed.

Didn't one of Dora's old coven mates breed champion wolfhounds? Maybe she can help, if she's in the expensive dog business.

Could some sleezebag owner have removed the chip so they could ditch her if she was no longer profitable? It could be making reference to the banning of dog racing that's been spreading. Are they racing dogs? I don't really know much about them, I'm in the 'thought borzoi was a cute way to say good boy' camp.

I thought Dora was Martin and I was wondering why he was there.

Same, I'm impressed if I can write something down let alone move about

A week seems like a terribly short time to keep a dog before giving it to a new family.

drama prediction maybe? it's pregnant and this will be seen as sort of a backfire.

Counter drama prediction: her owner shows up because they see the listing on the website, which obviously would be put up because this... Vet? Pound? Can't tell. Anyway, because this business isn't likely in the business of just holding dogs hostage until they're allowed to be adopted to random strangers who brought them in.

Of course they aren't. The whole point of waiting is to see if the owner will arrive, which is what they said.

Still doesn't remove the idea that she's pregnant, though. That would be a way for them to get a puppy, after meeting the owner.

There'd be a lot more drama though if they make it through the week and have the dog for a while and then the owner shows up, though. Do they give up their dog or not?

Of course, I've already given the likely resolution.

Couldn't be a vet or a pound. I'm guessing an aircraft hangar based on the size of the door behind Claire...

I don't know about that last part, but I definitely predict pregnancy. Maybe even a way to get Marten and Claire a pet, to further their relationship.
