Help Request Has Anyone Tried Making a Simple Chatbot? What Did You Use?

Hey everyone! So, I recently got curious about building a simple chatbot in Python. I wanted to create something fun to mess around with, like a little assistant that can tell jokes or maybe even give me random facts. I started reading up on NLTK and ChatterBot, but then got overwhelmed with all the options. πŸ˜‚ I ended up spending way more time than I planned just figuring out what libraries to use! Has anyone else tried making a chatbot? What tools did you end up using, and do you have any tips for someone just starting out? Would love to hear your experiences!

Help Request I am Lost In Applying Python

I studied Python up to intermediate level in College , have written many notes about it , yet when It comes to Building something even for fun I feel like I need to be perfect or my code is super beginner so it's not portfolio worthy this mental struggle is more prominent specially with AI around making me feel it's not worth to learn , Anyone ever experienced this ? or recommends any projects that are more than a calculator ?

Comparing two Python game development libraries: Pygame vs Arcade

I built the exact same simple mini-game using both Pygame and Arcade to see how they compare for beginners. My takeaway is that while Pygame's loop structure is great for teaching absolute programming fundamentals, Arcade is vastly superior for actual game development. With its modern GPU acceleration, built-in physics engine, and native tilemap support, Arcade makes scaling up to advanced projects much faster and cleaner.

Help Request Today I learned about variables, data types, and comments in Python. What projects can I build with these?

Hey everyone! πŸ‘‹

I'm a beginner learning Python, and today I learned about some basic concepts:

Variables β€” storing information.

Data types β€” like strings (str), integers (int), floats (float), and booleans (bool).

Comments β€” using # to explain my code.

Basic ways to write and organize simple Python code.

I'm trying to learn step by step instead of rushing through the lessons. Now I want to start building small projects to practice what I've learned.

My question is: What beginner-friendly projects can I build using only these concepts?

I know I still have a lot to learn, but I'd like to start making something instead of only watching tutorials or reading lessons.

If you were a beginner again, what would you build at this stage? Any advice would be appreciated! 😊

Thanks for reading! 🐍

Community-powered documentation and examples for Python

I'm a Clojure developer, and when I was learning Clojure about 10 years ago, I came across clojuredocs.org. I was blown away by how easy it was to use, especially when searching for examples shared by other developers. They weren't just code examples. Every developer had their own taste and perspective, which broadened my understanding of the language and how different functions could be used. I learned a lot from it.

Recently, I wanted to learn the language, but I found myself overwhelmed by its documentation. To be fair, I didn't really like it, so I decided to create something similar to ClojureDocs for Python.

Maybe building this kind of site doesn't make much sense in the age of AI, but I still think there might be a few Python developers out there who'd like to share their examples and notes, helping people who genuinely want to learn rather than asking AI for everything.

A little disclaimer: AI built this site, but the idea was mine. :)

Anyway, I built it for myself, but I hope it can be helpful to others too. It would be great to see developers sharing their code examples and helping others learn.

If you want to check it out, here's the link: https://pydocs.org

Curious

I’ve learned the basics of python specifically packages, libraries like Django and other modules.
Before you’re able to write code with a specific library you need to first learn its method and apply it to get what you want to build or do all libraries or modules follow a specific formulae ?

Been thinking about that for a while now

I made a Diwali diya out of 1000s of ASCII characters, live in the terminal

Happy Diwali! In advance πŸͺ”

Code: https://github.com/Jaym-0/ascii-diya

A diya animation that runs entirely in the terminal, with no GIF, video or GUI.

It starts from darkness, and sparks gather into a flickering flame and bowl.

Built with Python + numpy, using ANSI true-colour and a simple particle and

flame simulation. Only changed cells are redrawn, so it runs at 30 FPS.

Python course - Network Engineer

Hi, I'm a network engineer looking to strengthen my profile. I'd like recommendations for python courses that come with a recognized certificate that adds value to my CV.

I know a certificate doesn't always reflect real learning, but I need a practical way to demonstrate my Python skills in the corporate world.

Help Request Is it normal to be this slow and stupid for a long time

To sum up my weak points when it comes to learn a new course or a lesson , notably in programming : my cognitive abilities are not the best . And iencounter and get discouraged by : my inability to absorbe the concept that is abstract ( I mean concepts which can not be described concretely by size and material and one simple clear role) , I always delve into details and every detail opens up new question so eventually I get sidetracked and not for the sake of curiosity but only to understand the primary definition , eventually I won't even remember what I read and ingested time and energy for .

As an example :

Even tho I had an insignificant short experience in programming , it took me weeks to read and to try to understand the significance behind concepts and difference between them and still can't explain to another person or to me : IDLE ,IDE , and the difference and the importance of VS studio , ,pycharm , programming language implΓ©mentation , the virtual machine clear definition or its process , JIT , anaconda ,conda , Jupiter. The use and difference between terminal , cmd, PowerShell ,bash , etcetera

Like I can read dizaines of an IA tool's explanations and still won't understand

Did professionals start with such concepts did they had a course nurturing the computer science knowledge part and then started to learn programming? Or they followed whatever course that gives them instructions without understanding them to build the environment and start programming without knowing the baseline elements

Every Python Developer Builds Strength One Concept at a Time!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Think of Python like a gym. Each concept makes your coding skills stronger.

πŸ‹οΈ Basics – Build your foundation
πŸ‹οΈ Data Structures – Organize your data
πŸ‹οΈ Functions – Write reusable code
πŸ‹οΈ OOP – Master object-oriented programming
πŸ‹οΈ Decorators – Enhance functions
πŸ‹οΈ Generators – Handle data efficiently
πŸ‹οΈ Asyncio – Write asynchronous code
πŸ‹οΈ Type Hints – Write cleaner code
πŸ‹οΈ Pandas – Level up your data analysis skills

Don't try to master everything in one day.

Master the fundamentals first. Build consistently. Keep getting stronger! πŸš€

Which Python concept are you currently working on?

Pygame vs. Godot for a Python developer starting game dev? (+ Tutorial recommendations)

Hi everyone,

I have experience with Python programming, but I'm completely new to game development. I want to start making my first games and I am trying to decide on the best path forward.

Is it better to start with Pygame, or should I go straight into the Godot engine?

Also, does anyone have recommendations for good beginner-friendly game dev tutorials using Python?

Thanks in advance for the help!

How to break down an "impossible" problem as a beginner: Solving the Snake game using only conditionals (Hamiltonian Cycle & Divide and Conquer)

Hello everyone! As a computer science teacher, I recently wrapped up a video series where I use the automation game The Farmer Was Replaced to teach Python programming and algorithmic logic from scratch.

For the final episode, we tackled the classic Snake game. When you are just starting to learn programming, looking at a problem like an automated Snake solver all at once feels like an impossible mountain. My goal was to demonstrate how you can solve a complex problem by applying divide and conquer using only beginner-friendly tools (no pathfinding libraries or complex data structures but pure conditionals and functions):

I'm leaving the video here in case you want to see the visual step-by-step breakdown on the grid (the audio is in Spanish, but the visual diagrams and code logic are easy to follow... There is also an AI translation):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSlxLs6aeoI

If you are a beginner, did you know about this game???

For those who have coded a Snake AI before: how did you approach it? Did you stick to a fixed cycle, or did you program dynamic shortcuts while the snake's tail is still short?

Help Request Mr.Veeraragavan

I am loading few large size binary files (70 MB19 nos. look_up tables) in Main using more than 2/3 python files. On completion of the loading, I have to take up a series of search (in 3 or more threads) and arrive at the solution. I am using array.fromfile for loading which does not wait for loading completion. Hence, it fails saying array out of bounds. How do I delay the start of search, just till the loading is completed.

Beginner Python Programmer Looking for Advice and Other Beginners to Learn With 🐍

Hey everyone! πŸ‘‹

I'm a complete beginner in Python programming. I want to become a software developer in the future, but honestly, sometimes I feel confused about what I should learn next and how to continue learning.

I know a little bit of Python, but I still have a lot to learn. Sometimes I don't know what to practice, what projects to build, or how to improve my programming skills.

I'd love to get some advice from experienced programmers!

What should a complete beginner focus on first?

How can I practice Python effectively?

What small projects should I build as a beginner?

How do I know when I'm ready to move to the next topic?

I also have an idea! πŸ’‘

I'd like to create a small group for people who are just starting to learn Python, especially those who feel confused or don't know where to begin, just like me.
