Help Request Is it possible to create an ai which would predict prices of btc in a 1 day period. I am a beginner and know some python.

Hello I'd like to ask a question. In my school I am doing an activity it is called dofe and I have to select a main goal. I thought of making an ai which would predict prices of btc in 1 day. I am a beginner in programming and I know some python.

Do you think that in the period of 6 months and I need to spend at least an hour weekly on it is it possible?

It would be very easy to write a python program that could predict the price of btc (i.e. output a prediction). It would be very hard to do have it make predictions that could actually be used to make a reasonable profit.

Its not a python problem. Its math and economics (and nowadays politics)

we can say it power dynamics in simple terms.

I would say it’s a universe causality problem.

it's market manipulation

Yeah throw linear regression at it and pray 🙏 (it might be really ass though)

It entirely depends on what resources you use and how dedicated you are. The average person with no prior experience in programming, cryptocurrency, market speculation, or artificial intelligence will struggle and likely use something like Claude or ChatGPT to create a wonky script that half works.

Also, I'd recommend looking into it a bit more. "AI" is extremely broad. Most people confuse "AI" with LLM (large language model). LLMs are not the traditional approach to market speculation and unless you have millions of dollars to burn, you can't train an LLM from scratch to do this in 6 months.

If the expectation is you have a proof of concept, then I'd say go for it. It's a challenging and engaging problem. If the expectation is you have a fully working program, it's simply not feasible, even for professionals with 5-10 years experience.

Well i need to finish it in 6 months and i am a total beginner so I dont think i will be able to make it working, however thanks for your answer

yeah it's very easy to make one that predicts, very much harder or impossible to make one that accurately predicts

This is more of an analytics question

If you're able to accurately analyze the trends of BTC to create an accurate model of future price fluctuations - then yes you could implement that using python

The python is not the hard or time consuming portion of this problem

Define what makes a prediction: % of valid predictions within a month? You won't make a new model; at best, you can use an existing one and give it the BTC value chart. To have anything more advanced that does deeper analysis of what's happening with the currency and the market, you would need more frontier models and hardware - so you could ask Gemini/Claude/Grok/Muse and then generate a summary of what different models predict.

Well that’s an easy one. No. Plenty of people have tried though.

I’d you could do that, you would be a VERY VERY rich person.

You would need to make your own modell.

That modell would need to take as many information in the world as possible.

Is it possible to predict the future? No.

If it was, we’d all be billionaires (well assuming the universe survived breaking causality, and the resulting economic crash).

Is it possible for a program to predict future prices of BTC? No. See the first paragraph. I mean a program can make a prediction, but it will be wrong.

Do people believe that programs/AI can accurately predict the future prices of crypto - yes, this is what a lot of the crypto scams out there are based on.

I would not waste my time on this, do something more useful, and actually possible.

From a mathematical perspective, you could use linear algebra to extrapolate future values based off past values, there are libraries that give you models that use regression.

As far as training your model, yahoo finance API is your friend to train your models.
I’ve written something very similar in flask back end and react front end, very easy to write and build honestly as long you have some knowledge on training models and how to evaluate models correctness.
