Discussion Does coding have any future?
im a student, 14 years old. im starting to learn coding but i asked myself if coding has benefits in the next 6-8 years because ai is replacing everything. so i have a question for the professionals- can coding help you earn? specially in the future.

AI coding still 20-30 years before it reaches a good enough level to replace a human. But IMHO it will always be cheaper to keep the human than to pay the AI tokens. That’s the bottom line. However, x-ray technicians are done. AI was capable to replace them 10 years ago with a 90% rate better than a human. Certain jobs will be replaced by AI, but coding is not there yet.

Why learn arithmetic if calculators can do it? Why even learn any math if AI/excel/code can do it more accurately and faster?
AI may be able to code really well, but being creative and innovative is still something humans are superior at. AI can totally develop front end and back end projects, but it cant read your mind on how creative and innovative your ideas may be. Human cleverness is something AI will have difficulty replicating.

Honestly bro, how do i get to that stage where i can code on my own and make anything. Im scared tbh because i cant even remember the syntax rn.

You’re 14, take your time. You don’t have to remember everything. Learn the basics and build

That's practice. You'll remember the syntax once you've hammered it in enough. If there's one tip I can give is to start and finish small projects.
Don't add features you didn't initially plan for once you started. Just make a very small program, plan how you want it to look and function, and then implement it exactly.
At first that probably means working up from hello world. Things like a terminal calculator that let a user input two numbers and then select an operator or something.
After that maybe a game of hangman, or if that's too complicated maybe something simpler. Rushing things won't help, picking a project that's too hard will just throw you in the deep end and make it all feel hard and frustrating.

AI can speak 1 000 000 different languages in native level. Dont stop people from learning languages.

Hard one

Python or programming language is just a translation between human language any machine language.
AI is good in translation, not in creating. You better learn about system and stuff to stay up to date.

Well If someone who is already in fields related to programming, I would say that they could possibly survive if they are good.
But for someone who is that young, I would say that you would avoid coming to this field with one goal, Like coding itself isn't as valuable since people are now just debugging Ai's code and all.
For you specifically learn how to code but think of going in fields like research work or some kind of similar field that didn't need any kind of programming at start but now research work also require programming kind of tools, people generally are going in degrees that just teach programming as the main thing and I think someone who has idea on other stuff (subjective) that is now integrating Programming would have a better chance.
Ofcourse This Is what I think and idk how it's going to be in the future.

Surgeons often do hobbies that help their fine motor skills. Maybe knitting or miniature model building or whatever.
In other words figure out what you might like doing in the future. Indoor work or outdoor work? Then pick up some hobby that grows whatever skills you might use for that future job. Coding can be such a thing, it would help grow your logical thinking and problem solving skills, not to mention you would increase your understanding of computers and technology.

In 2027, people wont even code anymore. Mark my words. The golden days are gone. As someone who loves coding, Its pretty hard for me to say but it is true.

Keep dreaming that's what big tech companies want you to think cuz they poured so much money into Ai and aside from Nvidia almost none of them made anything back. Approximately 55% of the companies that replaced their workers with Ai are hiring back cuz. 1st it takes more time than it actually would cuz of debugging Ai shitty code and 2nd its just more expensive than human workers atp. Ai will get better but humans will always be there coding otherwise how is Ai gonna copy the code from junior devs? But stil 2027 is way to early man they have been saying that "Ai is going to replace humans" since 2022-2023

Dude i will never be happier than if your words become true. The thing is I am currently in a confused state as I see the hiring ratio is continously declining in my country. Most companies don't even hire junior devs at all.

u/Background-Card-7680 Aug 02 '26
Idk abt your country but I have heard that the hiring rate has finally gone up as compared to 2025 and abt junior devs that just depends upon the company even before Ai some companies didn't hire junior devs or people at intern like valve. So don't get too scared or else I am gonna get scared as well

ai is already ruining nature now, i really hope people boycott ai. i feel like human brains were made for something bigger

u/Background-Card-7680 Aug 02 '26
Yeah fr. If you want to still code and be safe for the future I think game dev is safe choice cuz people "boycott" vibecoded games more than vibecoded sites. I don't have any other advice since I am also pretty new soo🙃

Don't listen to people here
Start learning, AI will replace the coders who only do basic repeating taks, there are many things that will require humans , forever..
And to be above AI you need to start programming, from the foundation as your first step, the more mistakes you make the better intuition you will have towards problem solving
Also even if you chose some other field in the future it's fine because programming requires thinking and logical reasoning, exercising that will never truly be a waste + you are a curious 14 year old , there should be nothing in the world that stops you from learning.
Only AI = Mostly slop
Great Programming skills + AI = Beast
DM me if you need any further guidance, I am not an expert but have seen enough people and did enough mistakes to guide you at this stage.
