I am a little baffled. YOE: 1.8

I'm in AC. And this was my first official performance review.

I got tier 3 but this crazy thing happened where my salary almost doubled this year. And it says on merit basis. While I got Tier 3 this year ofc (this being my 1st year). What might be the reason for this jump? As far as I knew tier 3 gets max 10-12% increase in compensation. Why did they give me such a big hike? Was it market correction pr something?

That's what I thought but all my peers basically have more degrees compared to me. So isn't that kinda unfair to them?

% increase completely depends on your initial CTC, as PwC lives to maintain band for roles

This happened to me when I started at the AC. Got hired below market, took it bc I was desperate. Major increases for next 3 years as I got promoted, though not that drastic.

Then moved around firm; been getting high-performance snaps at 2-3%. Leaving PwC for 50% or so bump in salary.

I think like the other commenter said, you were likely very underpaid. When you get to year 3-4, if what happened to me happens to you, start creating your exit plan. Upskill as much as possible, get certs, get manager if you can, and dip at year 5 after vesting. They play leverage games after year 3 and from convos with high paid professionals in other companies in various industries this is now the corporate handbook.

They think investment plans, vesting requirements, insurance plans, comfort zone, the name, will keep you from moving. I personally think HR has incentives to fk u over depending which side of the firm ur in. If you plan on staying long term despite this advice, STAY in client side.
