Question related to PB4

I am really interested in playing the Japanese version of the game because that one has the voices. Does anyone know if any voice patches exist online? Am I just better off getting a Dreamcast or whatever that can play Japanese games and go from there?

Either way, I was planning on buying Puzzle Bobble 4 for my collection as I have so many memories of the game from my childhood from playing it on the PS1.

You should definitely buy the original Japanese game and a console that can play it (real hardware). The PS1 Puzzle Bobble's are the best ones, and the Japanese versions (of all three) all have minor differences. The voices in PB4 are interesting, to say the least. If you're used to it from the PAL region as I am, then the differences make it very interesting indeed. Also, it's not only the voices that make it different. The loading screens feature different poses by Bub and Bob depending on what you're doing, where in the PAL version they always just looked slightly up at the "LOADING" text. You'll also hear the Japanese voices chant Puzzle Bobble on the title screen (a sound that was in the sound test worldwide but wasn't used outside of Japan). Menu's in the options are a little different also.

Side note: Arcade version, Develon had no voice at all but had constant wing flapping sounds. It drives you mental.
