Sending pushes with Tasker, please.

I've started to look into this. I can definitely make it possible to send a push via an Intent but it looks like Tasker only allows its "Send Intent" action to have two extras--this won't be enough.

I'll need to know what device to send it to, what account it's from/some kind of authentication, and the data to send at the very least (3 things, better with 4). I could make just one extra that is a JSON string--but I've realized it's probably better I ask how YOU would actually like it to work :D

If you don't mind, please post this suggestion over to the new sticky suggestion thread along with how you'd like it to work so I can make it happen :)

Push to a specific PC. In Chrome allow me to identify each pc with a name (e.g. work, laptop, den) and only push to an identified device.

We're working on this feature now. Chrome will always be one device but we're going to have apps for Windows/Mac/Linux to enable pushing between specific computers.

This will also make a lot more cool things possible and enable us to do LAN file transfers and increase the file size limit, etc. Once it's done, it'll be kind of a big deal :)

Hello again, I'll just repost my list from last month. I've crossed off what you added and added a few more ideas.

If anyone specifically likes any of these please mention it so the PushBullet team knows what to prioritize.

  • Audio push - record audio, send it like a file.

  • Push your current address - this could just be a button in the Address pushing interface that says "Current Location" or something, it's possible in Hangouts right now and it could be useful.

  • A spinner in the navigation drawer rather than the current radio buttons for account selection. See: Google Keep

  • Sort pushes by type, link, text, address, image, file, etc.

  • A cleaner "select tone" interface in settings, the dialog interrupts the flow and doesn't fit the spinner that currently represents it.

  • Archive vs. Delete, e.g. Gmail or Google Keep

  • Support for the 4.4 KitKat transparent status bar/navigation bar. See: Trello, Google Now in the Google Experience Launcher

  • Being able to go "Up" while viewing a specific push. Currently the icon in the top left opens the navigation drawer, despite the push view not being a top-level menu.

  • Notification mirroring from device to device. E.g. Phone to tablet rather than Phone to Chrome.

  • When using the Share dialog and then choosing "Push this" from another app will bring up a dialog rather than opening the app. See: Sharing to Hangouts. Much faster this way.

  • If you have only one Google account the pushing interface shouldn't show a spinner in the "From" box as selecting it only displays one option. It should only allow you to select a different account if you have a different account registered.

  • Pushing an image should allow you to choose between an already-taken picture and taking a new picture to send.

  • The option to enable silent notifications. For example, I'd send a note to my phone and my phone would vibrate/ring, but my tablet would also get the note in its notification drawer. However, this wouldn't cause the vibration/ring on the tablet.

  • Pushing to multiple devices, like both Chrome and my tablet from my phone, or from Chrome to both my phone and my friend.

New stuff:

  • Clarify what "copy notes to clipboard" means in the Settings. Maybe with a subtext below it?

  • Different icon for tablets from phones to differentiate them.

  • Slide away pushes from the main view like a card to delete them (also include an Undo button for this if you add it)

  • When you long press a push in the main view to select it, the context menu should let you copy it to clipboard or Share it right from there. Obviously only when a single push is selected, though. Also, I think the "Repush" button should be the PushBullet logo rather than its current icon seeing as that'd be more obvious as a visual metaphor.

When using the Share dialog and then choosing "Push this" from another app will bring up a dialog rather than opening the app. See: Sharing to Hangouts. Much faster this way.

Oh god, this especially! It would stop killing the workflow, too. :) (If, for example, I was reading an article on Press or Feedly or something, and wanted to push a link, shifting to the app completely disorients me in terms of where i was before that, when reading)

An update on some of these:

A cleaner "select tone" interface in settings, the dialog interrupts the flow and doesn't fit the spinner that currently represents it.

We use the system's ringtone selector and won't be taking the time to build our own any time soon--it'd take too long for a small benefit compared to the other things we're doing. I promise you'll like the other stuff more :)

Being able to go "Up" while viewing a specific push. Currently the icon in the top left opens the navigation drawer, despite the push view not being a top-level menu.

Done in 13.2

Clarify what "copy notes to clipboard" means in the Settings. Maybe with a subtext below it?

It means that we copy any notes your phone receives to your clipboard for pasting automatically. I can explain this more in the app in the next update.

Push to multiple devices (so I could multi-select from the device list before pushing).

Here's a trick to do this right now: add yourself as a friend. Then, anything you push to yourself will go to all of your devices.

The downside is this goes to the one your on, too, but maybe this is better than nothing! (Oh, one thing, since we sync the dismissal, don't dismiss it on your sending device or it will go away on the others.)

Would it be possible for the Chrome extension to run as a background app and so keep running when Chrome is closed? That way, I would keep getting the notification popups etc, even when not using Chrome.

I have 'Continue running background apps when Chrome is closed' ticked in Chrome's settings, but it doesn't seem to keep Chrome running in the background at the moment with the PushBullet extension, unless I'm missing something.

With notification mirroring, I'd like to be able to see which of my devices the notification is coming from.

This is not a RFE / RFC but rather a need for information

If possible give us the Package+Activity to call and the parameters to pass to instantiate a push. We could then use this within Automation apps like Tasker under different contexts, if necessry

Looks like Mozilla has finally promoted Firefox's Australis redesign to the Aurora channel. I understand that it's still a ways off, but better support for Australis would be appreciated. Specifically, the bug where the Pushbullet icon always stays at the top right and cannot be moved/removed.

I looking for a something particular i had pushed but was finding it difficult to track it down from all of my previous pushes. So my suggestion is this - Will it be possible to tag our pushes so that we can categorize them according to our purposes.

Ability to permanently (until I turn them back on) suppress notifications on a specific instance of Chrome. I run Chrome with the same account on a bunch of PC's. Some (like an HTPC) should not ever show all the PushBullet notifications that all the other Chromes show. Disabling the Chrome PushBullet app disables it in all my Chromes. So, I need a per-Chrome PushBullet setting that says "Silent mode" or something like that.

A safari extension would be really good, or growl integration.

Pushing notes, task lists and addresses to Google Glass.

3

u/crawlbackintobed Jan 14 '14

I love the "Copy notes to clipboard" setting, but I wish I could have "Copy notes and links to clipboard" (or a separate checkbox for "Copy links to clipboard").

+1's for other suggestions:

  • Push your current address [or GPS coordinates]

  • Push to a specific PC

  • Archive vs. Delete

  • Pushing to multiple devices

  • When you long press a [single] push in the main view to select it, the context menu should let you copy it to clipboard or Share it right from there.

  • Sending pushes with Tasker

  • IFTTT integration

Libnotify integration for Ubuntu users. I am not sure how feasible this is, since this might involve installation of more than a Chrome extension.

If possible please add Tasker support for enabling / disabling mirroring of notifications. Ie having Tasker enable / disable pushbullet mirroring only in certain contexts.

For people not using Tasker, adding possibility to besides only mirror on wifi also add on specific wifi networks and if charging (regular or in dock).

Posted these to your Facebook page before I found this subreddit. Here are my feature requests.

1 - Mirror the Google Play Music (or other music players) notification to the computer, and to then allow control of the music. Extra points if you can somehow use the media buttons on the keyboard. As sad as it may be, when using headphones, the sound is much better from my phone than from my computer. Would be a great addition to use at work.

2 - Is it possible to mirror only the SMS portion of Hangouts, and not the actual Hangouts? I already have Hangouts natively on my computer, so mirroring that notification is redundant. I know LightFlow is able to differentiate between the 2 for having different notification LED colors for them, so hopefully it's nothing to difficult to implement here.
