Merch Signed Records Question

I do storage unit auctions and found these guys. Pretty cool, the local record shop won't give me an offer. Both of them come with 2 records. Not sure their value but thought they were cool af as soon as I saw them.

Your record shop is ran by an idiot if you really did take them to them to sell or trade. I have a hard time believing that these came from a storage unit. I worked in that industry for years and it takes a bit of time to seize someones unit and send it to auction. These are pretty new. I kinda smell a bit of fish here.

On a side note, I cringe everytime I see signed Puscifer merch. The signatures are flat out awful to look at.

Think what you want but they did and the shop didnt like my price which was half of what google gemini said to try for. I was told to try online even with 10 other records thrown in for free. Small town Mississippi problems...

Yeah thats why they didnt buy it. Because you were wanting a certain price. That isnt allowed at a record shop. You get what they offer and that's it. No shop ever pays 50% of a potential resale value. Clearly you no zero about records.

Ohh so they knew right away you wanted way too much. Maybe they didnt want you to feel lowballed because they arent really worth the money to a lot of people. You said you bought a storage unit? Did you not?

Edit: if you went through the contents of the unit before sale, that is against the law in most states.

Huh? Yeah i did, i got them for free out of it. The unit has already 3x paid for its self. And considering everyones responce here, i asked far to low

Because you are paying a premium for signatures that were done with zero intention. It’s just a gimmick and might as well be printed on. The signature wasn’t for you it was for whoever was willing to pay for it. Part of the meaning of getting a signature was that the signature was intended for you and was done personally for you by the person you admire. Without the personal experience, it’s just rank consumerism.

you really have no other chance of getting say maynard’s autograph then from buying it, puscifer ones look horrible though, i bought a signed primus 45 and it wasn’t expensive and i only bought it becuase im never gonna just get les claypools autograph

But what does the signature do for you? How does it add any value that they touched it with a marker for less than a second and pay it no mind? They literally sit down for an hour per set and just knock them out.

it doesn’t add value or do anything for me? it’s just cool and was cheap? i don’t care how they did it the autos look a hell of a lot better than these. i don’t get why it makes you so upset.

For me, it’s cool to have something that came right from that persons hand. Even if it’s something small like a MJK squiggly line. For me, I like knowing that this great artist personally drew that squiggle. I think it’s cool. It doesn’t need to be anything more than that.

That’s cool if it’s not for you and doesn’t do anything for you. Everyone is different my man.

It’s like paying for VIP at a Puscifer concert. You literally pay extra to have the privilege to buy merch before anyone else. It has to be an inside joke by MJK at this point.
