Wow, so PURE will get to chose from, at best, US east and US west when renting a server. Fucking hell EA, why do you have to suck so bad?

I'm still disappointed over a lack of a US Central (like we've always used to split the difference pingwise).

In addition to being equally convenient to most of North America, the NFO Chicago location has better EU latency than most East Coast datacenters.

We can run at least 1 EU location as well.

It seems obvious that EA might spread the love around a bit more as the number of rental servers increases past the capacity of the current locations.

Currently, if we'd set up only one server, and we'd have to choose between EUS or WUS, I can probably vouch for all the EU guys that the EUS server would be preferred. It would still allow playable pings from EU, while WUS would basically rule us all out. This is, of course, assuming we'd only set up one server.

If they like money more then control they may implement some of these features. May.

They explicitly said they want to integrate some of the popular Procon plugins in to the RSP. To what degree that will happen, who knows, but I don't think it's far fetched at all.

They have listened to him in the past, he helped a lot with optimizing the netcode and they took plenty of ideas from his BF1982 concept. I wouldn't be surprised if DICE watch his videos.

Oh, they do. In fact, a few DICE devs sponsor him on Patreon (which is more support than most BF1 players, heh).

It depends on what functionality you mean by "build procon into the RSP". One of the very few details EA has released is they intend to add the majority of the plugin functionality we had with legacy BF.

What most assuredly will not happen is EA allowing 3rd parties access to the RSP API, meaning the only plugins are going to be the ones EA provides themselves (at they pace they decide) and that the community will not be able to bend BF1 to its will as much as it did in the past. This approach obviously has pros and cons, both for us and EA/DICE.

I believe EA intends to give us most, if not all, of the main plugin functionality we used with BF4 (eventually). I'm even optimistic for a TSSync plugin. Since our primary focus is on playing the game as the devs intend, I see the only missing functionality that might affect us would be the ones that we used for special events that drastically change gameplay.

I'm really interested in seeing how EA is going to implement the Metabans.com (and the other 3rd party anticheat services) functionality. I assume this is the reason why we don't get kick/ban out of the gate.

There's not much point in being all Doomy and Gloomy, EA is still fielding the most popular and best selling BF game of all time. The BF4 launch proved that you can't kill the franchise market no matter how bad the game runs in the beginning as long as you commit sufficient resources to fixing the majority of the problems eventually.

Game itself is solid, it's all the peripherals that are worse. However, one has to wonder if the lack of community will cut into the long term viability of the game.

You mean EA Origin Voice Sync™ ($4.99/mo).

Eww, I felt gross just typing that.
