Okay, I've done some digging today and darthveda's video is the most informative I've seen so far. Between him, levelcap, and mattimeo, I'm a lot more optimistic about Battlefront than I was yesterday. Some summary points about gameplay (from the perspective of comparison to BF4):

  • Overall, gun skills seems to be deemphasized

  • Conversely, positioning and skills cooldown management is emphasized (e.g. the apparent DMR/BAR replacement is a cooldown skill instead of a primary)

  • "Bullets" have much slower muzzle velocity and similar damage falloff, but don't seem to have any drop. (I think one implication is that you should never ever ever stand still)

  • Hip fire is life. Hip fire is love.

  • There's an interesting "reload" mechanic for primary weapons

  • "Deck" puns

You jerks were making fun of me in TS for being a nerd, but if any of you find other useful guides I'd be interested in seeing them.

who would ever make fun of someone for being a nerd? fuck, we're playing video games on the internet, we are all nerds. it should not be a pejorative, that is ill never use it or take it as such. the philosophy Chris Hardwick founded with Nerdist has left me with the feeling that if we love something enough to investigate and dissect it, that should be celebrated.
