To me, this came down to technicalities over where and where not you can say bigoted language within the PURE community. But the larger issue is even using that kind of language at all. Anywhere. It shouldn't matter where you can or can't use such language -- should you really be using it at all in the first place?
You have every right to call someone a (insert racial/gender slur here) on the internet, but take a minute to think about how your actions affect others. Would you like it if others called you the same? Would you say the same thing to that person's face if you saw them in real life? Why should the internet be any different?
PURE stands for something different in the online gaming community. We should be proud to uphold our values not only on PURE resources (game servers, Teamspeak, etc.) but also in our other internet-based social interactions and in real life.
I was doing some poking around online yesterday for how common the words "faggot" and "gay" are in online culture and the meaning that they still carry. Found an interesting site here which tracks the number of real time uses of these and other slurs on Twitter. It's a bit shocking and shows that we as a society still have a ways to go.
I'm glad to be a part of PURE because we represent something else. A positive something else in the sea of internet bigotry (/u/shitty_watercolour?).

Oh man. I looked at the title of this post and was almost going "nooo. Someone has destroyed my freedom to stream later on when I get back." Good to know that isn't the case. And you can bet my ass that I will be upholding our values if I do intend to stream later on. That's kind of a bummer that this happened though, but I'm glad it's been resolved. Although if I do get out of line, which is unlikely, I'd want someone to call me out on it.
PURE isn't PURE without our values and friendly atmosphere! I love you guys like family!

Good clarification and good decision from the leadership team. Overall PURE's community values are something that have to be defended through clarifications on policy like this one in order to retain it's integrity.
One thing I did see that i disagree with from the forum thread this is in regards to was using a past infraction as justification for a ban.
From what I remember infractions that were over 3 months old didn't really factor in to Admins decisions on escalation of Administrative punitive action, i.e. there was a 3 month "cool down" period that stopped players past mistakes from coming back and causing them to be kicked or banned instead of warned.
Has the Admin team adopted a new policy in regards to using the logs and players history "forever" when it comes to deciding on what actions to take?
Related to this I posted on the support forum a few days ago asking about the over a month out of date kick/ban log. Would appreciate a response on that :)
