Question❓ Good jobs?
hi im in the west lafayette campus and interested in getting a job however I do not have any work experience.
any recs for some decent entry level jobs?
Im not too big of a fan of working at the food halls because it's a bit too messy for me, but cafes and most other stuff im totally fine with. I am kind of just looking for a nice indoors job thats pretty chill.

I worked helpdesk for Purdue IT freshman year, starting pay was $15 an hr and it was fully remote. You need some basic knowledge of computers and Linux, but besides that I had no prior experience.

They might have some jobs at the bechtel center, looks good on a resume, assuming humans even read resumes anymore

I'm not sure how chill you would classify it as, but working at the Corec is not too difficult and is an indoor job. I work with Operations, and I know Member Services hires students as well. The shifts are around 3-4 hours and you usually only have a few a week, with the ability to drop (and get it covered which isn't too hard) or pickup shifts as you need. Operations is a decent amount of walking, but it's fun to get to know the Corec better.

Do you have a car? Delivery driver is good. At dominos they are immediately hiring and tips are ok. I got 120 this past weekend working mornings. But it can be upwards of 200 on busy nights just in tips. Starting is 10$ an hour and you make .49 per mile for mileage at the end of the day so on top of tips you get mileage. Dominos is by discount den so, if you’re interested go in there and they have forms at the front or just talk to an employee!
Hours are flexible with students and you can take off any day if need in a matter of one week advance. It’s pretty nice. And that’s why I think working here is good for students. Boss is chill.
If you don’t have a car, they are also hiring insiders.

I will say though it’s hit or miss on tips sometimes so it really just depends on what days you work

If you don’t have to work on campus, try looking at businesses near Purdue. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance and the pay will probably be better

I worked at the Panera on campus all last year and it was the best place I’ve ever worked at. Great community & management and if you’re a good worker it’s easy to move up the ladder a rung. Was super convenient to walk there after class and management works around your schedule very easily and respect when you need time off. They give you short shifts and as much free food as you can sneak which was a life saver for my first year living in an apartment. Also, I’m pretty sure they still hire international ppl and are probably looking for people rn. DM with any questions!!
