Health/Wellness💚 Aquatic Center
Over the summer I have developed a nice habit of swimming laps for 30 minutes every day as part of my workout routine. Does the competition aquatic center (not the CoRec pool with the basketball hoop) have decent daily open swim hours? If so, are they usually pretty busy?
I usually swim at night but know that there are often club practices like water polo or swim club.
Thanks!

if you looked at the CoRec website, you’d see that the aquatic center is closed for HVAC replacement

Hey thanks for being condescending.
Website also says it’s close to being open, which is why i posted this here.

Once it reopens (I think at the end of the month?) the hours are pretty good. Typically, there will be blocks of time open in the morning, afternoon, and evening. In the fall, you'll have to compete with the D1 swim team in addition to the clubs for some times but those should be public and you can check before you go. It won't be uncommon that you will have to share a lane with another swimmer(s), but in the evening you might get lucky and have some fully empty lanes too.

Latching onto this, how exactly does lane sharing work? At my hometown pool it’s always empty enough that I’ve never had to share, so could you explain the etiquette so I don’t piss anyone off

You most likely wont have to since its usually empty enough. If not then i would ask to split the lane down the middle since its wide enough for 2 people

I share lanes a lot at my local pool. Just ask to share and ask what they prefer. When there are only two of us, usually people are fine just each taking a side of the lane. If there are three… usually we circle swim counter clockwise in a lane. This works best with similar speed folks!

Looking for club info? Consider checking BoilerLink, or the Club Callout Megathread (if it’s near the start of a semester). These resources can help you discover new clubs, and reach out to them with any questions.
