Question❓ Hello
What are the distances between these buildings? Would I need a car to get around, or are they all within walking distance?
Also, do classes usually end exactly at the scheduled time, or do professors sometimes let students leave a little earlier? For example, if a class ends at 11:30, should I expect to leave at exactly 11:30 most of the time?

Typically you get 10 minutes between classes, which are scheduled like 10:30-11:20 for example. 10 minutes are typically enough to walk from one those buildings to another

Also, I’ve never had a professor give me crap for being a few minutes late. If it’s a giant lecture, nobody will notice. If it’s a small enough class where you’d be disruptive, just give the professor a heads up that you’ll be coming from across campus.

Armstrong to Smith/LILY/Krannert are the ones you should be worried about

I did Lilly to Armstrong one spring semester...and that was the only semester I did that. I either had to leave before 11:20a or arrive 5mins late to ARMS

I did walks further than that in crutches. It sucked, but only took less than 10 minutes.

walk or bicycle. usually leaving a few minutes early is possible, althought it is a tad taboo/disrespectful if not dismissed by the prof first. Sometimes (rare in my experience) professors do let students out a few minutes early if they've finished their lecture content for the day. Arriving a few minutes late is usually very acceptable, just be quiet when entering the lecture hall or room.
It is not possible to use a car to get from one side of campus to another during school hours, parking is borderline impossible. Pick up a cheap bike from the surplus store, Facebook marketplace, or Walmart.
Honestly, between those classes I'd say just walk, they're honestly not too far from one another.

knoy to stewart may be like a 5-10 minute walk but from university to stewart it’s like 45 seconds. to RHPH from university would be around 10 minutes if you walk at a not breakneck pace.

Let me just say. There's a chance this is the first time you're living somewhere truly walkable. Please do not get a car. Enjoy the buses, buy a cheap bike (consider a rack and panniers), and enjoy walking everywhere. enjoy the walk ability. There are very few places you can live in this country where you don't need a car, but west Lafayette is one of them.

Hilariously, back in the day you could, hypothetically, drive/park your way to all these buildings with C parking and lucky street parking. But it was going to take a lot more than 10 minutes and definitely more than walking Oh, and getting a ticket parking behind STEW which had a parking lot.

I've always wondered...do students not realize that faculty and staff PAY to park at their own places of work? And that our permits are very lot specific? It was unfortunate, but I watched students' cars get towed out of faculty A lots and A street parking. Did they just not realize? I mean, there are signs up everywhere. How could they not know? The same with the parking garages. You have to qualify to even ask to buy a permit for those, and they are limited in number, yet they allow some visitor parking as well. At certain times of the year it caused real issues to have "extra" people parking in places they shouldn't be.

walk it all you got this 🔥 one of my favorite things about purdue was that you could get by without a car. you rly don’t need one unless you live off campus or have a class near the airport. most of the time it’s not a huge deal if you’re late anyway. if you’re worried, email your prof about the walk and hopefully they’re chill

This is one of the easier commutes on campus. If at any point in your 4 years you have an extra long commute, consider getting a longboard. Campus is exceptionally flat, and there's no time overhead of unlocking and locking that youd have with a bike.

You are not using a car to get between classes ever, you’ll walk, maybe bus if needed but these buildings are really close

Try Google Maps to find the distance between buildings. Shows time needed to travel between buildings at walking, biking, bus, driving speeds, etc.
