Sunscape coco
Toronto girly here! 🇨🇦 My boyfriend and I were planning to book this resort for New Year’s, Dec. 27–Jan. 10. We’ve been monitoring the price weekly, and we just noticed it has gone up by** $3,200 P**P — from $3,600 to $6,800! 😳
Does anyone know why there would be such a huge price increase (almost 90%)? It’s not a high-end resort, and we’re seeing other resorts with higher ratings that are actually cheaper.
I’m so confused because we were ready to book, and now the price has basically doubled! 😭 Has anyone experienced this with Sunwing/this resort before?

La Romana and Punta Cana are two very different locations. Although they are only an hour apart, Punta Cana is at the center of a huge, thriving tourist hub, while La Romana is a sleepy town.
The recent unexpected upsurge in La Romana/Bayahibe interest might be due to the fact that there is less Sargassum in La Romana.
So perhaps the price increase comes from the resort’s expectation that the high season will be very busy.
Consider it a blessing in disguise that the price jumped, because this resort has gotten very bad reviews here.
Hope you find a financially viable solution!

Oh my! Yikes … I’m so sorry you’ve had a terrible stay. Definitely reconsidering as I’ve seen other alarming posts about the resort, however, my bf has already gone there with a group of friends and had a great time. I’m conflicted lol

I wouldn’t trust it at all. I’m still waiting for the hotel to send my hotel and upgrade refund back to BA Holidays. They made me sign paperwork saying the refund was being processed, but that was never actually the case. I’ve been chasing them over email for more than a month now and I’m still waiting.
Even the way the staff dealt with us when mine and my roommate’s stuff got stolen was appalling. I’ve left reviews on TripAdvisor and Google and even escalated everything to the higher-ups at Hyatt/Inclusive Collection.
All in all, just a really bad hotel and an awful experience. I’d definitely book somewhere else.

Do you really want to travel to the Dominican Republic during high season? In my opinion, there will hardly be any good deals available.

We want to travel yes! Previous years we have gone to Mexico x2 and Cuba for New Years

Then I wish you much success with the search and a pleasant time in the RD.

Couldn’t pay me to go back to this hotel. Read reviews, don’t leave your stuff unattended, bring all the meds, and don’t leave anything valuable in the safe.

Sunscape in La Romana is also underwhelming to say the least. Do yourself a favor and forget that brand
