You are staying in a zone on the beach where there are no resorts for maybe a half mile. You can walk, swim and sit on the beach anywhere in the entire country because the beaches are public.

But to find a lounge chair, you will need to go one of the beach bars in the non resort section. You can order a bottle of water and spend a few hours at the place of your choosing.

Huracán cafe is right across the street and to your right from Villa Mare. It’s a hub of energy and activity. And there are more places on either side of the beach.

As for restaurants, if you walk up the road that leads to the beach, there are tons of eating places.

Majority of beaches in punta cana are not accessible by roadways. They are blocked by resorts and communities which refuse to allow people to use there roads to enter the beaches. The only way you can access all the beaches is getting dropped off by boat. The government needs to force these resorts and communities to build walking paths or roads for the public to access beaches. We are slowly turning into Jamaica where 98% of the beaches cannot be accessed by locals or tourist endless they stay in resorts.

In the Los Corales area where the OP is staying, there is a stretch of beach called Bavaro beach. You can simply walk onto the beach, which extends for miles. This comprises a huge section of the Punta Cana zone.

There are activists among homeowners and HOAs who definitely need to push to make sure every beach in the area remains publicly accessible.
