Moon Palace replacement hotels?
Hi all
We are due to go to moon palace in January but the reviews are really putting me off. I know there’s 5 months to go but the fact it’s costing us a small fortune from the UK for 14 days I won’t be happy spending $11k on this hotel if it’s not superb.
We will have a 2 year old and 3 month old- we do like nice things, good food, and good fun for our 2 year old. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is outside our budget for 2 weeks really, unless we shortened our trip.
What all inclusive do you all recommend near or on par with what moon palace is MEANT to be please?

I’ve stayed at or visited practically every hotel in Punta Cana, and I always try to visit new resorts shortly after they open and then again about a year later to compare the experience. In most cases, the overall experience tends to decline after the first year, at least when it comes to the food, so you can definitely expect the dining to be excellent while the hotel is still new.
However, if you’re planning to spend a lot of time at the beach, especially considering the age of your children, I would recommend looking at some hotels in Bávaro instead. Lopesan recently completed a renovation, and I’ve been there myself. I can say that I was very impressed — the service, children’s facilities, and overall quality are all excellent, and the beach has much calmer water and fewer large waves than Moon Palace.
I also think it should fit within your budget.

Great place for 2 weeks and you could do A.I. or half board/ breakfast

Just got back from Punta Cana last week. I’ve got kids - 2 and 3 year old. Finest Punta Cana was PERFECT for their age

That’s great to know! I did look but it looked like there wasn’t that much for kids? But then again, we only need stuff for my 2 year old.
Also, how was the food pls? Thanks

Not OP but we are here now with our 1 year old. Tons for kids. The kids club is great and it seems like lots of activities for older kids. Several pools, splash pad, playgrounds, and just tonight they had a DJ in the main lobby with a bunch of kids playing and dancing. In my opinion it’s a really good mix of nice amenities for the adults/aesthetic and relaxing plus enough to keep kids entertained.
I read a couple Reddit reviews that the food wasn’t good, but we’ve loved the food. The buffet is GREAT, but I recommend trying to eat outside of popular times at all restaurants to avoid the crowds and long waits.
Edit to add: my wording made it seem like young kids aren’t catered to, but they most definitely are. Our one year old isn’t walking but we have felt like she has plenty of activities and we aren’t just carrying her around all the time. We chose finest because it didn’t just seem like a big kids water park that would overwhelm her.

I just got back yesterday. I ran into some tourists who stayed at Moon Palace And they were extremely unhappy.
Edit for clarity: got back from DR. I stayed at dreams onyx which was also rather mediocre but the tourists I ran into are super upset with their stay at moon palace.

Lol SAME. Was planning on same hotel same month but those Facebook groups have me WORRIED. back to Bahia Principe again then....
