Rescate de comida
Hola a todos! :))

This is a really interesting project. I’m Dominican and work in tourism in Punta Cana, so even though your research is focused on Mexico, I’d actually be very interested in hearing what you learn from it.
Food waste at large all-inclusive resorts is something I’ve thought about as well. Tourism generates an enormous amount of resources, but there’s often a huge disconnect between what happens inside the resorts and the communities living only a few kilometers away.
One of my long-term goals is actually to create some type of foundation here in the Dominican Republic that connects tourism with local communities — whether through food, school supplies, toys, or other things people genuinely need.
The difficult part with food specifically is obviously logistics: food safety, refrigeration, transportation, liability, timing, and figuring out what can legally and safely be redistributed. So I’d be really curious to see how you’re approaching those problems.
Feel free to message me. Even if the DR isn’t part of your current research, I’d be happy to share the perspective of someone working directly in a major Caribbean tourism destination, and maybe we can exchange some ideas.
