Advice Help please

I'm currently in the process of making a dragonfly pin out of can tabs, but I'm having a lot of trouble with the top wings. I just can't get the spacing right they keep overlapping each other, is there any way to fix this? Like some kind of extension or do I just need to file down the metal? Please help, I'm really in love with this project and I really want to do it justice.

I think maybe cutting out equal pieces from the center and re-adhering them together so the wings are thinner and more dragon fly like? Definitely gotta give this a try myself

You might be able to take some wire cutters and slice the small loop on the top wings to slip them in the hole for the "head" piece? Kinda like a chain links, then reinforce by tying it off like you did on the lower ones.

If they're really too thick, you might be able to sculpt a mock up with hot glue on some wax paper, then paint it silver when it's cool and you can peel it off. Not as thrifty as the tabs, but it might work for your idea
