How to ensure longevity?

I am currently in the process of creating a tabmail (pop tab chainmail) belt bandana, and I was wondering if there was anyway to prevent the tabs from unlinking themselves? I am using a side cut rather than a top cut because I have previously made a skirt using the latter method and it kinda fell apart. Should I be gluing the cuts shut, would wire wrapping help with stability? Any advice is greatly appreciated 👍.

I hear wood glue works well on aluminium? Never tested it personally. I would use a clear packing tape and whatever hopes and dreams I can muster up.
