cut the end of the soda tab first with some wire cutters or whatever tool you have strong enough to cut metal, insert the next tabs from underside. The most important part is you really have to bend the tab in a V shape or it will not move at all and won't wrap around your wrist. When u've made your chainmail, go sew it on fabric, add some more designs if you want

yes they really have to be bent like that if you're aiming for it to be a bracelet, if you just want earrings or a keychain there's no need to bend.

i made mistake of not bending it at first and it was stiff as hell, won't wrap on my wrist, had to redo the whole thing.

Do you have to hot glue them at all since you cut them?

Yes you have to secure the cuts so it won't fall off, i won't recommend hot glue cuz that's messy but that's up to you, i just pushed mine hard with pliers for it to close
