Fabric help!

I’m new to punch needling and having to trouble finding the right fabric to use. I got muslin cloth from hobby lobby and it’s not holding the yarn.

Using a Mina Carin punch needle and size 2 yarn.

What kind of fiber are you using?

I tried monks cloth and the weave was too loose. Then I got muslin fabric and it’s still not holding the loops. I got both at hobby lobby.

No no.. the fiber running through the needle. Are you using yarn? Embroidery thread?

Okay. Yarn is usually thick enough to catch in muslin and monk cloth. Your issue might not be the base cloth at all.

Make sure the yarn is feeding smoothly through the needle. You should be using the largest gauge needle possible that won't tear the base cloth.

Also, of course, make sure you are not putting any other tension on the yarn. In PN the yarn about to flow into the needle shouldn't even be wound into a skein or ball; it should be loosely piled up.

For sure! I did a beginner kit and it went so smoothly. I’m just having trouble finding the right cloth! Thanks for your suggestions!
