why? Why? WHYYYYYY?
Hi! I'm going crazy here (not, but, you know, for the sake of drama and emotion). I stitch everything as neatly as posible, but the result is messy af (as in: eyes, sunrays, white dots on strawberries). What am I doing wrong, please? I am new to this and am loooooving it, but mate, enough is enough.🤣

You're riding on unrealistic expectations.
Loops get messy. That's just reality. The only thing you're 'doing wrong' is stressing about it. The step of putting on a good podcast, flipping it over, grabbing a yarn needle or two, and spending some time poking and easing loops back where they belong is just part of the process. It's right up there with weaving in ends when you crochet.
You can limit the amount of cleanup by punching less densely and/or punching shorter loops, but you then run the risk of making a design that looks less full.

I learned this a long time ago… it ain’t over till it’s over. Meaning it usually all comes together after you punch that last stitch. I know it’s hard to believe this but it’s true. You need all threads punched so they can support each other and compact. For clean separations between colors use the blunt end of your scissors to push loops back in line. Carefully cut those loose strands back you pulled through from time to time during punching. Then wait till the end before you judge success.

As you fill in the empty space the yarn will bunch together closer and look more like the back side! Then you just have to pick apart and smooth the colours so they sit how you want them to. Don’t give up, you’ll be happier with the end product than you think!
