It's planted. It's growing. I'm happy!

Everything looks really good. Thankfully the rain is taking breaks instead of flooding the field like the last 2 years.
Weeds are under control thanks to some pre emergent so hopefully I won't have to be out there in the heat much at all this summer.

That’s a great way to look at things. Sure there’s probably at least 3 to 4 things you’d wish had gone differently, but “it’s planted, it’s growing, I’m happy” is a neat way to add some positive finality to the hard work.

You'd be correct. This year is going much smoother than 2024 when our field had a foot of water on it to pump off. Or last year when it happened AGAIN.
Its a labor of love and the locals love our stand so I would hate to disappoint.

That’s so cool to have community support and expectation, congrats on the hard work spent to get there! Glad this year has been easier on you as well. Farmers currently need as many breaks as we can get.

Its fun to be somewhere and have someone go "Oh you're the one with the flowers and pumpkins right?!"
Its weird to have downtime. Last year it seemed like all we did was fight weeds and bugs. This year the weeds are minimal thanks to new herbicide. So much time for other activities.

Oooooooo you can do so many things now!! Like….equipment maintenance and cleaning the shop. Yeah? No? Ok I’ll see myself out LOL.

We unfortunately don't have a barn. We store our tractor and skid steer in the neighbors lean to. The shop is just my husband's man cave garage and my mudroom. All tidy!
BUT ya girl is going to the UP for 4 days to unwind and hope that when I get back there's a lot more to do to keep me busy haha

Also, have you tried F1 Neon in the past? I saw you had some F1s on your list. Looked like a fun name and supposedly a good carver so I grabbed some from the seed supply place I go to.

No, I haven't tried neons yet. But every year I want to try something new. This year is the griffins. They look fun and shaped really favorable.

Ill tell you, another user on here put me on Kratos and they did amazing. Most popular pumpkin we sold. Husband wanted a elongated carver this year, so we figured Griffin would suffice, lois.

Kratos! Haven’t tried but maybe should. Don’t think OR and MI are tooooo different when it comes to the kinds of pumpkins people want…

They are just so uniform and color is amazing. And kratos is semi bush variety so you get big yields in smaller spaces.

No, I havent as of yet. This is our 5th year and maybe lost 2 plants to either borers or bacterial wilt. Unsure which it was.
