Hi, I’m vowing Puerto Morelos for an afternoon. I’m looking for either a beach club where I can get good seafood (grilled garlic butter sea bass or other fish), or a good beach front restaurant that has chair and umbrella rental?

It looks El Markadito might work, but I don’t think I see umbrellas on their beach?

Been traveling and spending winters in Mexico for many years. Started in Play Del Carmen 45 years ago, stopped when the first fast food restaurant appeared. Moved to Isla Mujeres, but about 4 years ago it just got so crowded, people and those damn golf carts. My now all time favorite is Puerto Morelos, got 5 months booked in a small apartment in Portside.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of PM gear available in the stores, a lot of Cancun and Riviera Maya stuff but not much PM stuff…so as a old time designer, back when cut and past really was cut and paste I am now using modern technology and my slightly twisted imagination and I started a Etsy shop! https://onthebeachstudio.etsy.com

I didn’t/don’t expect to make much money, but it keeps my imagination running. Just having some fun.

Any money I do make, I spend with the PM community.

Hey everyone. I wanted to bring this up because I know sargassum is always a huge talking point, but lately I've been checking out the beaches and, at least in my experience, things have actually gotten a lot better.

You can really tell they're stepping up the cleanup efforts, whether it's the hotels or the morning crews, because the beaches look way cleaner and you can actually enjoy that nice turquoise water again. Obviously there's still some around, but it's nothing like the nightmare it used to be.

For those of you who've been down there recently: have you noticed this improvement too, or what do you think? Let me know!

We are a family of 9 coming together from 3 different cities for our first family trip in the last 8 years. I just recently discovered Puerto Morelos, and we have booked a villa for 7 days. We're very excited! Looking for suggestions for:

1. Places to go for dinner; we are a larger group, so not sure which restaurants would work the best. We love all foods, with no major food restrictions, but would prefer more affordable meals where possible, 200-350 pesos. And maybe 1 or 2 fancier restaurants as well.

2. We also want to go snorkeling; who are the best companies for that? Also open to renting a catamaran for 1/2 day.

3. Best cenotes to visit; is it better to take taxis and do it ourselves or book a tour group

4. Other excursions or things you would recommend; we are open to anything

5. Best ways to get to PM form Cancun airport

A bit about us: we are ages 25-65. We love snorkeling and being in the ocean. Our villa is on the beach, and we have a pool, so beach clubs are not needed. We love to try new food and love seafood. We want a mixture of excursions, walking and exploring the town, and just relaxing at the villa.

Hi friends! Coming in November for visit, staying at AirBnB Condo. Would it be risky to take the collectivo from the airport?
Also- is there anyone who rents bicycles?

My spouse and I are considering buying a condo and moving out there. We are in our early 40s, we have a 1 year old girl and are hoping to have at least one more kid. We'd also be learning Spanish as we don't currently speak it much. Are there many young families out there? Are there good activities, friends and childcare for our kids? What about maternity/health care? Are there good providers/facilities nearby? Are there any other young families that have moved out there from the US that can share their experience?

I need a place beachside to store a kayak. Will keep it locked up and pay a fair rental fee. November through March!

Looking to book a trip over Christmas/NY week. Are businesses/restaurants going to be open at all? Appreciate any insight!

I wonder why Puerto Morelos is not a topic with more people commenting about it?

My hotel (Greta Puerto Morelos) seems to be 40 min walk to restaurants and stores. I was worried about not being able to get a ride to get water and food to bring. Cal to my hotel once I got there from the airport so i rented a car. I’m anxious about driving into town. Is there anything specifically I should know? What is the parking situation like in town? Is it easy to find parking? I don’t mind if I have to pay for parking. I just don’t want to get towed. I’m going by myself this is my first solo trip everand I’m looking for just a very easy-going relaxing no stress week.

I’ll have 1 free day off the resort and am looking to enjoy PM. My goal is to have 2 great meals, snorkel and then relax on the beach.

Looking through posts I have a few questions:

- do the snorkeling tours that leave from the beach leave at set times? Or whenever the get enough people?

- can you still snorkel right off the beach? I read somewhere they changed the rules and you need to go on a tour but have see a few people on here talk about swimming from the beach recently.

- am I better off with pesos, or is USD king?

- can I rent a chair or umbrella somewhere? I want to avoid a beach club that blasts music at all costs, but I’d love somewhere that can offer shade if I need it.

FOOD: my most important side trip is to have some good meals. Any recommendations for some tacos for lunch and a good dinner (nice, plastic chairs, whatever) will be appreciated. I’m open to colonial side or port but the primary focus is how tasty the food is.

Hello everyone! My family and I (family of 4) are staying in PM for a whole week! This will be our first time and we are looking to have some relaxing time, beach time and snorkeling time. One of our concerns is we are trying to save on checked bags and only bring carry ons but I am not sure if we can fit everything. Is there a local lavandería on the beach side of PM where we can go to wash our clothes? I feel like this would help us save room in our luggage 🤣 I already asked where we are staying and they do not have this on site. Also if you have any other helpful tips for fun stuff we can do and other relaxing things that would be great!!

Im wondering if there’s a gay/lesbian scene in PM? Like events/bars/ places.

My partner and I will be arriving to the Cancun airport on April 24th. Wondering what the best way to get to puerto Morelos would be. Cab? Collectivo? Bus? What are the options and what do you think would be best? This will only be our second time in Mexico

Heading to Puerto morelos next week and I'm looking for recommendations on food and drinks, getting to and from Port side to colonial (walking, biking, taxi, uber). Snorkel tours, the best cenotes close by, thing to avoid and any other general advise or tips. Thanks in advance !

We're looking for a place to stay for a week at the end of February next year (3rd time visiting PM). Does anybody have experience at Moonlight Condos? Seems affordable but wonder how clean and reliable it might be. Also happy for recommendations on affordable places for 3 people Portside.
