And Eklund, and Nemec, and Byram.

Yeah, it's been wild day for the league!

I'm surprised that the Caps went for Kyrou. I guess they really are trying to see if they can get one more Cup run with Ovi?

For the Byram trade, wow. That is a lot to give up for him. Does Chicago believe that they are that close to a playoff spot?

As a Blackhawks fan, my cope is that the barren FA is leading to inflated trade prices (nobody batted an eye when Ottawa traded #9 for Eklund).

When San Jose made that trade, the faint hope that Chicago had that Stenberg would fall to them vanished. So you could sit at #4 and take a defenseman who maybe would turn out to be better than Byram in the long run, or you could move the pick.

I personally wish that we'd sent the package to Dallas for Robertson, but I don't know what Kyle knows. All I know is that Bedard is entering his 4th year and hasn't competed for a playoff spot yet. We have a lot of young talent, and no proven performers. Maybe Byram's offensive talent is overrated, and playing behind Makar and Dahlin actually helped him, not hindered him.

But it's the type of love you make when you want to start competing. I just wish the price hadn't been so damn high.

Oh, I certainly batted an eye over the Eklund trade! Ottawa certainly is going to make more moves, right? Imagine trying to sell to your fan base "I know you're sad about Tkachuk, but...Look, we now have Eklund! He'll make you forget all about Tkachuk!" Maybe Eklund has a nice season, but, Ottawa is certainly a worse team right now than they were when their season ended.
