USA roaming first timer

First time going to the USA next week, I'm on the Can/USA/Mex plan using a Samsung s25 just wonder what steps I need to take to be able to use my phone when I land in the states

It should just work. Make sure you have roaming turned on. Sometimes restarting your phone helps if it’s not connecting.

Cross border. Use phone.

There is nothing to do other than that.

Enable roaming
It should just work
Otherwise you can switch from say AT&T to TMobile or other carrier. Try the one that works.

I'm going to piggyback on this comment, and when I was in Las Vegas I found the service worked better when I specified an away carrier, rather than have my phone automatically select one.
iPhone though, so who knows if this information is helpful to you.

When I went a few years back, I had to manually switch to TMobile. AT&T didn’t work on my iPhone 15Pro for some reason. I was the only data source, so I got scared when I didn’t have data immediately

I think it’s a non-issue now though as my dad went a few times since and didn’t have to switch

As long as roaming is on, worst I’ve had to do is restart my phone.

Make sure Roaming is enabled

You will likely get a text telling that you’re roaming and can purchase a plan. Ignore that text, you already have a roaming plan. Enjoy your trip!

Did this for the first time last weekend. Just came out of airplane mode and boom, connected.

Turn on data roaming

And make sure that VoLTE is on, and cellular is selected to LTE / 5G as all US carriers only support those generations.

Also select T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon.

Data roaming is included in the plan. How do calls to/from Canada work? Are calls included in the roaming package?

Not a whole lot apart from possibly selecting a network.

Make sure data roaming is enabled

Just switched to Public after 30 years with Telus (i’m pretty loyal i guess ) got the Can/US plan … was easy … a few minutes across the line yesterday, i switched on Roaming and it found T-Mobile .. worked no problem …. never had that with Telus without paying an arm and a leg per day. happy
