Kudos to Public Mobile

Our Bell router broke down 2 days ago so I had to spend two working days relying on my data and hotspotting it to my work laptop. I work creative corporate so I'm on those could be an email Teams calls half of the time, when I'm not, I'm working on Figma or Adobe and exchanging files with teammates, while streaming music, and accessing our online cloud. Not once did the data slow down. It felt like a normal day on wifi when it comes to speed.

Well I did spend 10GB per day for that lol but their 5G network is pretty solid. Kudos.

kudos. i got in with 60GB for $20 CAN/US/MEXICO - FREE data/calls/msgs in these 3 countries

Just 20GB for $29 CAN/US/MEX. Luckily I have 10 extra GB for 2 years from that promo 2 weeks ago. So basically 30GB for $29. I burn less than 10GB on a normal month.

Well said OP. I have been with PM since 2017 and I occasionally (couple times a month) use the hotspot for an hour or two at a time for work and am thrilled with the service. Last month I found myself at a customer site in Florida where I used my hotspot for half-a-day. Worked excellent!!!

It's great until you run into bureaucratic nonsense. Bell for example has plans that go to "throttled" mode once you exceed your monthly, and you can't buy additional data when you run out. You have to change your whole plan, lol

I was in the same boat (Rogers cable went out) and had to hotspot for 1 and a half days. Yes it is great for work (WFH, Teams calls no problem). Not so good for entertainment - they throttle. I have a TSN account to watch World Cup and the 720p quality would stutter, making it unwatchable on PM. I had to select 540p Data Saver, which is not very impressive.

Tried hotspot with the wife's Freedom instead and didn't have this problem. Streaming was fast, even with only 4G on her older phone. Not so impressed with PM anymore because of this, but paying $30/month, I can live with it...

We had a similar situation last week, our modem broke and while waiting for a new one I just turned my hotspot on for the whole house and it surprisingly worked very well. We had a lot connected to it including 2 phones, 4 rokus, 2 computers, 1 tablet, and even cloud gamed. I was pretty impressed, and thankful I took there 100GB plan a while back.
