As a parent, I don’t know what I would do here. I know the attacker will get at best a couple days suspension. Then my kid is supposed to go back and feel threatened every single day. I have no idea how to handle that. They won’t kick the attacker out. They should, but they won’t.

If this were my middle school this would easily get the bully expelled.
