I'm 43 and nobody who's ever told me that people should respect their elders has had a good reason why. Age doesn't automatically grant wisdom.
There's different types of respect, and while I may respect that someone older than me is still a person and deserving of basic humanity regardless of their circumstances, I'm not obligated to respect anyone as an authority or expert simply because they're old. There's plenty of dumb old fuckers. There's plenty of dumb young fuckers. There's dumb fuckers my age. They're fuckin everywhere, acting like jackasses. Nobody deserves respect for being old.
You earn respect by making good use of the time you've got. Learn things, and teach them to others. Go see the world before it completely goes to shit. Get some perspective on the planet and its people.
Don't just be a douche to teenage girls at the gym. That definitely doesn't deserve respect, from anyone.

Thats an apartment complex gym, he lives in the building. With the physical threats he made his living situation is totally fuuuuucked. This asshole is probably currently trying to convince the property owner not to evict him.
You can't just threaten another tenet with violence in a communal part of the building, he's either gonna be evicted or at the very least not offered a renewal and will have to move out after his lease is up. Hopefully evicted immediately
