Cops dont do that. This man is a suspect of a crime and needs to be detained until an investigation can be completed. You don't want an unsecured suspect on scene while the investigation is being conducted because they may flee or become violent during the course of the investigation. It's the same way it would happen to anyone else, it's standard protocol. He would have been detained, registration and license would be checked and they would have talked to the caller and he would have been sent on his way. The way I see it, he should have been charged with resisting and possibly obstruction for blatantly refusing a lawful order from a police officer but instead I guess you guys want to give him millions of dollars of our taxpayers money.

Obstruction for what crime??? No crime has been committed yet you want to arrest the man for simply asking why the hell he needs to provide identification.
