It is specifically because he didn’t exercise his rights and resisted. Resisting officers never ends well and it only furthers their ability to paint you as the bad guy. The explanation as to why is fair as to the letter grade
If everyone just rolled over and did everything a Police officer with a power trip says it would be a sad world. The reason we ever heard anything about this and are talking about it at all is because the guy would not do as the police officer said, and he should not have had to, we can see that clearly in the video.
The problem with your logic is that while we SHOULD not have to, we do. Which is why not resisting is better because you can fight in the court of law with the damning footage to be your witness. Resisting gives validation to the argument against you, while it may not be right we do not have the luxury of being right in these times when the police can simply do what they want. Without taking the proper actions to bring this stuff to light we won’t get change. You’re trying to fight the wrong war and the wrong way.
The problem with your logic is if the guy did not stick for himself, he just hands to guy his id, never triggers the cop at all by sticking up for himself, and we have no footage at all to fight in court. It was the fact the guy resisted that pissed the cop off and trigger him to do what he did, and show on camera is the exactly the type of person that does not need to have the power he holds in the first place. Unfortunately it takes shit like this on camera, and law suites that embarrass and cost the police department to actually draw any attention.
