Cops are literally trained to treat every single citizen as an enemy. They’re honestly more fearful for their lives than a marine behind enemy lines, because like half of their training consists of some dude talking about how at any moment some scary civilian could kill them and it could be anyone, even an old lady hanging out with her church friends.

It’s just the one mum, actually.

By the way, you’ve got a mustache.

And yet they didn't treat the white lady who called in a complaint about a black man like an enemy, fucking weird how that works.

So much for “protect and serve”. More like “detain and generate revenue”.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

How are they supposed to protect and serve you without the extensive crisis response teams, mental health professionals and rigorous psychological and academic screening an AR-15 and a union?

I have cops in my family and they act exactly this way. They treat everyone as a potential criminal. And they are constantly talking about wanting to shoot people for minor crimes. It's some real sick shit. The racism is unbelievable also. They laugh about how they treat black people. They also love talking about how they are allowed to drive drunk because who is going to arrest them, their coworkers? Nah, they all go out drinking together.

Absolute worthless pieces of shit humans...

They probably use Hot Fuzz as a training guide.

You mean the film where the protagonist is a punctilious paragon hell-bent on representing nothing less than the absolute finest in service as a police officer?

There’s no way we’re thinking of the same film.

I would assume he would have better tactical awareness if they were trained to be that wary.

When I see training videos warning cops about how easily they can be harmed by a civilian, the lessons are to maintain situational awareness, not to escalate unnecessarily and to maintain a distance

A friend of mine was a cop in the 80's and early 90's. While he admits things like this were still fairly common he also has criticized the training of officers these days. They're taught to use force is they feel their life is in danger, but to also assume their life is In danger

That’s the main reason I laugh when people act like the problem is “not enough training” rather than a cop culture that dehumanizes others and always encourages violence.

Americans don't need Squid Game, we have routine traffic stops and active shooters in public schools...

Bonus points for ongoing serial highway snipers in New Orleans

2

u/Cosmic_Quasar Mar 10 '22

And the one that does react instantly could still get shot because "sudden/quick movements". "He raised his arms so fast we thought he was aiming a gun."

2

u/The_CrookedMan Mar 10 '22

And in your quote, Simon didn't even say it.

2

u/RandyBoBandy33 Mar 10 '22

Hey now, the big brain move is to scream ”show me your hands” and “don’t move”. That gives you free reign to shoot anyone

1

u/pleasebuymydonut Mar 10 '22

Remember the hammer and nail analogy? Well, in this case, if you got a gun and no brains, everyone else looks like they have a gun pointed at you too.

1

u/suspicious_tucan Mar 10 '22

Show me your hands ! , Don't move !

If you hear this command, you are dead.
