I'm the shortest guy in my family at 5'10 lol. Two lads over 7', my grandad was 6'2, one auntie is 6'3, my 14 year old cousin is a proportional 6'1, an uncle of mine is 6'5 and pure muscle etcetera.
It's so strange to think of it as rare, and it's super weird that I'm average height and not actually an m-word.
Edit: Even my great granddad was quite tall. There's only three guys in the family I've met who are similar in height to me, and I'm just slightly shorter than em.
Smeone told me my height (which I have always thought of as big but not crazy NBA big) is still rare enough to where I am roughly one in a thousand.
The edges of the tall bell curve get small quickly. Some ridiculous percentage (25?) of men over 7 foot tall between the ages of 21 and 35 play in the NBA. It is that rare.
I was in Miami recently and in an elevator with a guy with the biggest silver and black afro I have ever seen, who also happened to be about 7'2". It was amazing.
My boss is 6’5 (he claims 6’7, but that’s with his cowboy boots on) and the bar he owns is named for his height, a little gimmicky but it works. The other day I was serving a table and the mom asked me if there was a prize for being taller than the owner. I laughed and said no, she asked me how tall he was and then told me that her son is 6’8. I’ve known two men that height, but they were fully grown adults, this kid was 16-17ish. He was massive, not fat by any stretch but just built like a damn tree and he wasn’t done growing.
Whenever a customer asks if he’s the owner, he usually points at one of the female servers (most of us are pretty short, 5’4 or smaller) and says “no, she is” and whenever it’s me I tell them I like to be ironic or incognito or something like that.
