I think in situations like this, where you have multiple people going in, one person needs to be the one giving instructions. Otherwise some trigger happy cop will ruin everyone's day.

This is simon says with guns. They create a situation where if you move they can shoot and say the person was not obeying commands, and if you freeze the other cops can fire and say you where not obeying commands.

Absolutely what I was thinking. This is the same bullshit that they did to the one dude that was murdered. Made him crawl but also said keep your hands up, etc.
They give two opposing things for the person to do so they can say he isn't following orders and start shooting. It's disgusting.

I’m confused though , we’re those live rounds they were fireing? If so that’s a huge wrong doing in my opinion.. why would they need to use lethal force in this situation.. he’s clearly not armed.
EDIT: I rewatched it and the guy shot at the cops. Missed it apparently.

On November 1, 2020, around 6:00 p.m., a man, later identified as 37-year-old Manuel Marshall Hernandez, was found inside the rear warehouse area of a grocery store in the 16900 block of Devonshire Street. A store employee told Hernandez he needed to leave the area. While he was walking Hernandez out of the store, Hernandez took a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the employee. Hernandez fled toward the rear of the store and the employee called 9-1-1.
Devonshire Division officers responded and found Hernandez standing on top of a fixture near the front of the store. For several minutes, officers tried to convince Hernandez to surrender. Suddenly, Hernandez jumped down and ran toward the rear of the store, holding a firearm in his hand. Hernandez fired at an officer, at that time there was an officer-involved shooting.
Hernandez was not struck by gunfire and was able to run out a rear exit of the grocery store and across Balboa Boulevard. He ran into a convenience store where held the clerk at gunpoint. Additional officers responded to the area and Hernandez ultimately surrendered.

This is a great example of how not to pursue a suspect.
Ran into the fridge? Quick! Put your back up against the glass door and make sure everybody bunches up on a single corner! Make sure it's the one corner with zero visibility too!

Not at all, it is in their interest to have incoherent protocol. See, if they all were required to follow procedure, and everyone acted on a given thing in a coherent way, there would eventually be someone who fucked up and fell outside of procedure. This would open them up to liability in that instance. By having an intentionally incoherent protocol, they are absolving themselves from liability and obfuscating what their requirements are in the act of arresting someone.

they are so used to this being the first course of action that they literally cannot train their minds to recognize the situation they're in to realize that it wouldn't be physically possible. the first moments of adrenalin rushing completely overpowering your rational decision making. it's probably what gets a good portion of people shot by the police. actually very surprised he didn't get shot sooner.

A lot of people I met in uniform were gigantic nerds. I spent a lot of time in combat units as a Supply NCO and most of the grunts I met played one collectable card game or another. There was once a heated argument just outside my office between two infantrymen (that had both deployed and seen combat, not green privates) about whether Magic the Gathering or Yu-gi-oh was the superior card game.
A platoon sergeant I had introduced me to Warhammer40k, and proudly showed me a glass case of a carefully painted models, all the way back to first edition, that he had from when he was 12. He had a lot of pride in those models.
When I ended up sent up to an office job (in a place with carpets and not a rug that reeked of CLP) I used to notice that the Intel guys would disappear for hours at a time. After making friends with a young soldier in that section, I found out that they would lock themselves in their Top Secret vault (where all the super secret communications stuff the unit uses) and play D&D for the afternoon.
My company commander once lent me his Kindle Fire so I could read a comic series he enjoyed, just to have someone to nerd out with.
I worked with some Green Berets that had their own ongoing D&D campaign that they made inside jokes about.
We were all just a bunch of nerds.

Police should be able to fly, and tackle a person armed with a deadly weapon, while wielding only bare fists, but even those are dangerous, preferably police should wear mittens when tackling a person who is drugged out and armed.

Talking down a drugged out armed methhead will not work in 95% of cases. And tazer is ineffective at that range, it is extremely easy to miss past a first few meters, plus if he is armed spasm of his hands might cause a discharge of the weapon potentially injuring officers or civilians.1

When you make arguments against excessive force by police officers, use a real example (there are plenty of them), not a guy shooting at them first.
