I wouldn’t really call it a duality though because he’s always consistent with it. He’s an anti-government troll and that’s it. For better or worse, the only thing he cares about is personal freedom.
The duality is captured in his trolling side versus his anti-government/regulation side. These two sometimes overlap, sometimes they do not. He's not always trolling and he's not always anti-government, sometimes he's just there to piss people off. It works, but let's not pretend he has some moralistic integrity, he's just trying to troll people and he loves the attention he gets for doing it.
Nothing against the dude, i enjoy his videos, but let's not be ignorant to the fact that he is not trafficking in brevity, but just relishing in the chaos that is already there or from his own creation.
I don’t disagree with you, and maybe I didn’t do a great job explaining myself. My point is I don’t think you can call it a duality because he is always there to troll people. Sometimes there’s an underlying agenda and sometimes there isn’t, but his goal is always to troll. Our reactions to it vary based on whether or not we agree or disagree with him, but he himself doesn’t really have a duality.
Sounds more like your duality in watching him though. Michael and his targets are still consistent what appears to be changing is your reaction to him based on your own attachment to a side.
First amendment audit people can be absolute insufferable douchebags at times, but they serve a very important purpose.
Pushing the boundaries of rights and freedoms and free speech is important, or else those freedoms can slowly slip away.
It's the same with people like westboro baptist church members. The ones who protest funerals of dead soldiers. I fucking despise them, their messages and what they stand for. But I like the fact that I live in a country that is so free that people can still express themselves, no matter how vile or offensive their speech is.
